Fasting workout- how many carbs after is too much?

I'm going to try and do a morning workout before food. Nothing crazy- was thinking a brisk walk for 30 minutes. I've heard that it is beneficial not to have carbs directly before or after a workout so as to keep insulin levels down (diabetes runs in my family). I normally have a protein shake in the morning. It has 10g carbs. Is that too many carbs? My protein bar is 18g.

    Yes, that was what I was planning to do.

    Worry more about your blood sugar and your total daily carb intake. Carbs immediately after a work aren't necessary, especially with what I assume to be a whey based protein shake?
