My lower belly pooch has been bane of my existence since I started gaining weight in my teens. This area still drives me crazy!! I can accept most other parts of my body but just not my blasted pooch. So, I'm looking for some inspiration because it feels like it will NEVER go away. Can anyone that's lost from this area please post some picts of your success? This will be such great motivation for me. :) Extra points if you went from really heavy (300+) to slimmer and minimized the pooch.

I would love to see too (Preferably larger photos please!!) I never thought I would lose in my lower belly.. maybe I will take a pic of it at the end of the month but maybe this shows how much I have lost so far  Day 40 was 5 days ago.

I know what you mean. I started at 368 so I had a big one... now I have lost a lot and it's smaller but now there is also loose skin there :( But I think once I get down to my goal weight it will be a lot better. I still have about 120 to lose.
  • I want to see more pics!!!! I have the WORST lower belly pooch ugggggh.

There's a pic on my profile of my belly after 2 kids. Not great but not too horrible. I was about 10 pounds from my goal in that pic and got pregnant soon after so not sure how good it would have looked at my goal weight lol.

If I knew how to post pictures I'd show you that mine looks like a gazillion times better since just January and that the scale isn't always the best way to judge how exercise/life change can actually physically change you! Just keep after it, run, do that cardio, do those sit ups (the real ones! 50 a day!). It will come off :)

I can't wait to lose mine...I remember GETTING it...I had larger friends in high school (about 5 years ago) whose stomachs were very poochey, and had what I called the "w"....I gained weight and then saw the w shadow on my belly and said "eh, it'll go away, I won't get that big", and now I'm just used to seeing it. It's not horrible - in fact, in the summer if I spend all day hiking or something, the next day it's noticeably smaller. It will be nice to see a smaller shadow underneath it once and for all in a few months :)

Thanks to everyone sharing their photos - you all look GREAT, your progress is VERY inspiring to me and many others. So for all the lurkers who aren't posting and myself, especially, thank you!

I think she means the "after" pic is 9lbs heavier than she currently is, not that she started only 9lbs heavier... If i'm understanding correctly.

For me - eating right, running, lifting, and PATIENCE! That's all it is. Work hard and you'll see the results. If you're not seeing results, change things up. Eat MORE than you think you probably should. I started at 1200 calories and did everything "right" for a month, and no change in either weight or measurements. I upped my calories to 1600+ and dropped the weight. My current profile pic shows me at the exact same weight, about a year apart. On the left, size 12, on the right, size 6. Both at 155lbs. But my body changed with running and lifting. Stick with it, ladies. And you WILL NOT bulk up if you lift. Promise!

Thanks! I'm about 70lbs lighter than my starting weight now, and my pooch became more pronounced as I lost weight until I started to incorporate strength training last November. The difference between then and now is phenominal - but I've worked hard, all of December and Jan I trained like a maniac (working out for 2-3hrs most days). Now I'm below my goal weight I've cut it back.

Strength training ontop of a calorie deficit has definitely been key for me losing my pooch.

DITTO re the food - I was at 1200 and plateaued for 3 months, upped my cals to around 1500+ and lost immediately. And I do a lot of cardio too, but it was when I included strength that I got results.

I'm 5'8", 27, with 2 kids. l weighed 235 during both pregnancies and was still 215 when my youngest was over a year old in Nov 2009 when I decided to take control of my health and lose the weight. It took me about 6 months to lose 55lbs and I had maintained around 160 ever since. I kind of fell off the exercise and healthy eating wagon about 9 months ago though and was just feeling run down and looking flabby. I started an *amazing* workout program called Turbofire on 11/12/12 and have lost an additional 20 lbs and finally lost the belly pooch and am in the best shape of my life.
    Turbofire 12 week results

Not gone (I still have SOO far to go!!), but shrinking -- I feel hopeful! This has been over 3 months.

I was mortified at what my lower abdomen looked like after having my daughter. The first 2 months of good weight loss didn't seem to touch my tummy, but then the third month showed a noticeable difference to me.

Mine is still hanging on, it's probably going to be the last thing to go. Taking bets between that and the cellulite galaxy on my thighs.

I think I shed a couple tears looking at the before and afters. I was so worried I would be stuck with a yucky belly from losing weight. This gives me hope. I've never been obese but I've also always have some kind of a tummy no matter how small I got.
