My starting weight last year was 193.. which was my breaking point.. I've been yo yo dieting since and am ready to just stick with it (as I've said manyyyy times in the past.) I didn't know if anyone weighed around the same and was around the same height and what you've been doing to meet your goals, pictures would be awesome as motivation if you have any.

HI there: Yes I'm 5'0" and 186. I just turned 55 and know this has got to come off. So starting with MFP today. Hope to reach my goal weight of 140 by September. My motivator is wearing cute summer dresses. I look forward to reading more about you all.:flowerforyou:0

I decided to up my calories from 1200 to 1390 per day. MFP calculated my BMR at 1582. Someone please help me figure this out.. I'm confused.. am I eating the right number of calories (I'm 186.7 lbs and 5'4" and 24 years old). I currently do not exercise (I don't need anyone's stories about this.. I know exercise is important, and I will incorporate it once I feel like I have the eating right thing down.)0

I am 5'0 and 179 I started at 193 and just kept steady at 186 all last year. I really want to try hard this year I sell herbalife but just started really sticking to it. It is important to eat protein and to definitely reach your min calories a day of 1200 if your don't your body will think it is starving and hold onto everything it can. Also make sure your meals are very colorful with veggies and fruits0

I am 5'3" and 204 pounds. So, short w/ a lot of weight to lose.0

I am 5'4" and 189, so in the same boat! It can feel overwhelming, but I keep reminding myself that little by little I can do it! I am also curious about the calories, MFP says that I should be at 1200, but everything else I read says that this would probably be too little... I want to lose the weight fast enough to not get discouraged, but slow enough that it will stay off.0

I'm 189 and 5' 5", so I'm similar to you0

I started about the same. I joined MFP at 194 and 5'4". After 6 months I'm down almost 40 pounds and have 25-30 left to go.
OMG- sorry for the enormous pictures!0 -
i'm 5'5". I started at 189 and i've lost around 18 lbs. I do cardio 4-5 times a week for an hour (running, hiking, biking, or elliptical) with 20 minutes of strength training. And I rock climb 1-2 times a week for extra strength training. I've been eating around 1400-1600 calories a day, trying to eat mostly fruits and vegetables and lean meats.0

I am 5'3". I started at 194, now I'm 168. If I can do it, so can you.0
-
I've 5'4" and my breaking point was also when i reached 193 lbs. It scared me that I was so close to 200 and I knew if I didn't do something I would be there sooner rather than later. I've lost a total of 23 lbs since mid-Dec and I've lost 16 pounds since re-joining MFP last month. You can definitely send me a friends request.0

I am 5'3 I started at 228 now down to 175 yay still more to go but I am happy with my progress and it took me almost a year to lose the weight0

I'm 5'2. I started in November at 217 and am now down to 196.0

That's pretty much where I started six months ago! I am down 48 pounds, and have 14 to go to fit back into my wedding dress for our upcoming vow renewal. Wish me luck!!!!0

I was 182lbs in this picture. My twins were 4 months old. I was depressed, miserable and I complained daily about my weight. I finally did something about it. I cut my portions started eating 1000-1200 a day in calories, and after two months incorporated exercise.
I was 145lbs in this picture and this was day one of Insanity....It was one year since I started losing weight.
halfway through insanity....still 145lb
this was the end of my 60 days of insanity. 142lbs...I didn't lose much but it was probably my eating habits. I upped my calories but not with the right foods.
This was taken a few weeks ago. I currently bounce between 138-142lbs but I'm learning to not always depend on the scale...its hard and can be frustrating at times but its a lifestyle change so its not going to be over night......
Its been 2.5 years since I started my journey and like 14 months since I have been with MFP.
I'm currently on week 7 of turbo fire and i love it. I'm still not losing weight but the inches lost I can handle .. hope this gives you some hope.
I ate from 1200-1500 daily...in fact I'm still not sure what is the "right" amount because netting 1500 I maintained, upping I gained and lowering I plateaued. Just play with it and do what works for you. There is no right or wrong answer.0 -
I am 5'4 - start weight on aug. 27, 2012 was 192 --- now almost 6 months later i am at 154.. Had a plateau which sucks, but, im hoping i can finally break it. I would like to lose another 20lbs or so.0

I'm 5'3 in Dec 12' I stepped on a scale and was shocked to see I was 202! I lost 3 lbs the last week of Dec and 14 lbs since joining MFP the first week of Jan 13 so 17 lbs so I'm 185 now and looking to get down to the 140's hopefully within a year!0
-
I'm 5'4" as we'll and have been stuck at 182 for a long time. I'm hoping to see new results since I've up'd my cardio and hoping to add weights. Add me as a friend if you want. Always looking for new friends with similar weight height and to help motivate! :-)0

I am 5'4" and at my biggest I was 291 lbs. miserable and in pain all of the time. I finally decided to take charge and had gastric bypass surgery. Over the last 2 1/2 years I have lost 111 lbs. Unlike most people who opt for surgery I did not get stick thin or have any adverse side effects to breads or other carb laden foods. The surgery did its job and allowed me to get down to 165 before I was back on my own ( surgeon explained that after about a year your body adjusts and weight loss stops unless you work at it just like someone who has not had surgery) but still had not learned to eat healthfully. I have stopped over eating but calorie/carb filled flavored coffee has been my most recent response to stress. I am back up to 197 from 165 and I need to get my head in the right place to change my eating habits for good. People tend to think surgery is an easy out but if you don't address the emotional eating or plain old bad habits you still gain the weight back. The other pit fall is the rapid weight loss created stress to my back and I now have 4 herniated discs so working out is a challenge. I have struggled with this process but I am determined to make healthy life changes and meet my goal of 160 lbs. It has been an emotional journey but I have learned a lot about myself in the process. Hoping to get into a great bathing suit by this summer. You can check out my pics on my profile page.0

I am brand new to MFP. I am 5'2 and 186. In August I got down to 174 (doing Insanity and doing a 5k) but with poor eating and skimping on the gym, I shot back up. I am starting my journey again. I know how and what to eat, and I love to exercise when I can squeeze in the time, but I never had anyway to accurately log my calories in/ calories out. I am looking forward to MFP as a tool to reach my goal. I officially start tomorrow with clean eating and exercise. I'm looking for motivation and inspiration from others.0

I am 5'4 and am about 174 but my starting weight was 205 (yikes!). I lost 30lbs with myfitnesspal last year but gained 10 back. Now I am back on here and determined to lose at least 20 more lbs. There is so much information our there that can be confusing but the thing to realize is that you need to see what works for you. I use the calories set by MFP as a guide not a rule. Some days I am under and some days I go over but I try to limit those days. I think that your set goal of eating around 1200 is a good one but I think the important thing to realize is that your NET should be that number. If you exercise and are way under that then that can counter productive. I know because I have done it. I was getting used to this thing and was a lot under but not losing much but I figured how to balance and began losing a little more. Thats all it is: balance. Feel free to add me, I am not always this wordy . And good luck on your journey; its frustrating hard annoying and tedious work but so worth the effort. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that :O)0

I am 5'3 and my starting weight was 191. I am down about 10 lbs and my goal weight is 125.0

I'm 5'3" and I started at 185 lbs... I'm now 129 after 520-ish days. I plateaued at 155 and again at 132. What helped was doing Insanity at 155, and then TurboFire and eating "clean" helped me finally break under 130.0

I'm 5'3", started at 183:
This during pic was taken at about 143ish:
I lost the initial 40 lbs, maintained for a year, then decided to lose ~20 more which is what I'm working on now. I did it through a paleo diet (mostly bc of necessity due to food allergies but it does work very well) and hiking, but for this last 20 I'm adding swimming and strength training.
Be patient! Be consistent! You CAN do it, and it is so worth it.0 -
im 5'4 123lb now but have been 135lb. feel free to add0

I started at 245 a year ago, I'm stuck now where you are starting. I cant post my pic, but its my profile picture.

I am 46 yrs. old, 5'4" tall and at Christmas my weight was 200 lbs and my blood pressure was rising. Starting by joining a gym and slowly but surely adding more and more helalthy foods everyday. I have so far lost 8 lbs, but am losing inches also. I have brought my blood pressure down naturally and am on the right track. Am trying to get to 165 by summer ! I know I can do this .0
