FITBIT and other calorie trackers

With Fitbit's I understand they track the amount of calories you burn when walking, running or jogging. But if I were to where one while doing pilates would still record how many calories? If not, do you know of any similar devices that do?

polar heart rate monitor is the way to go. gives you an average heart rate that you can use to figure out your burn with. if you get one just make sure its a chest strap unit0

why a chest strap? I've seen they have ones of your wrist as well?0 -
the watch is the computer the chest strap is what transmits the heart rate to the watch(computer) they are the most accurate0

The bodymedia tracks your calories burned the whole time you wear it. Gives an estimate at night when I take it off to sleep. Sometimes I sleep with it on.0

Fitbit allows you to make adjustments to your activities. It will pick up whatever calorie burn happens during the activity, allows you to manually add the activity that occurred during that time, and adjusts the calories (calculated using your stats, i.e., height, weight, age, etc. on that day).
I added 30 minutes of Pilates and took a screenshot for you:

For an accurate calorie burn, you will need an HRM. The Fitbit is primarily a pedometer with a bonus of an estimated calorie burn. It's an awesome gadget, but it's not an HRM.0
