Fish Oil to burn more calories!

Another tip to share..I read in one of those muscle/fit magazines that if you take a fish oil supplement 30-45 minutes prior to your workout, you burn more fat. Silly me I'll put some things to the test! So I've been doing this for the past week and I don't know if its a state of mind thing but I felt more energetic to get through my workouts and whatever activity my son likes to do, seriously! C'mon fish oil does help the heart which inturns help with circulation. In Lamen's term: It's like a lube for the body= just like oil for a car. So give it a shot let me know how it goes and hope this tip is helpful for ya! :drinker:

I've heard about the good things of fish oil lately as well and was going to give it a try, especially since I NEVER eat fish (very, very rarely anyways). Thanks for the tip!0

I eat tinned mackerel/sardines 2-3 times a week on toast for my lunch
It tastes nice and is very filling.
It is better for you to eat the fish rather than take a fish oil supplement (mainly as the small bones are good at repairing your bone density), but a supplement is better than no fish oil at all
Does fish oil still taste as bad as I remember? I used to get given cod liver oil as a child, bleugh!0 -

@ sazziecee some people either don't like fish or don't like to eat before a workout. there's nothing wrong with having it as a supplement rather than not at all. the ones I buy from WalMart are the softgels and goes down pretty easy for me with water or something to drink. At first there was a taste a few minutes after I've taken them but I've been taking them for sometime now I don't notice. I do eat my share of fish but prefer the supplement before I work out, to me it helps me through it. I would never advise anyone to down pills for nutrients rather than finding it in foods, but if supplements works for most people something is better than nothing.0

Cod liver oil is made from, not surprisingly, cod livers. Fish oil is a supplement made from various types of fish. All fish oil supplements are not created equal. There is a difference in the way they are processed, as as a result ,how pure a product you get. The less expensive drugstore formulas are more likely to cause stomach upset because of the impurities that remain in them. Pharmaceutical grade fish oil is best.
If you want to learn more about how fish oil can help you in many ways, there is a book, written by Dr. Barry Sears, who created the Zone Diet, that has lots of info on fish oil. The title is "The Omega Rx Zone: The Miracle of the New High-Dose Fish Oil ."

a little fishy oil tip that I learned from my chiropractor...
I was reluctant to take the fish oil supplements because they had a tendency to make me burp a fish taste :sick:
So I quit taking them, until I learned this simple trick: keep the bottle in the freezer. The frozen gel capsules are just as easy to swallow, and I haven't had a yucky fish burp since I started this trick!0 -

I don't know about burning more calories, but ever since I added it to my daily supplements my body has definitely gotten more toned and muscular...not sure if it is a coincidence or what, but I eat a pretty low fat diet simply by the choices I make, so I think adding that extra fat in helped with muscle growth.0

They make "no fish burps" ones now (I know Nature Made has them), I refused to take them because of that until I saw this little red sticker on the Nature Made bottle. I must say, it's accurate. :laugh: :laugh:0 -
Costco has an enteric coated fish oil cap in their Kirkland brand. Also, if you take the (regular) capsules at the beginning of your meal, you are less likely to "hear" about them later.0
