Help! Is it possible to lose 40 lbs in 7 weeks?

I was just informed by my boyfriend that we are going to the beach in April (approximately 3 months earlier than I expected!) Anyway, I was hoping to be at (or near) my weight loss goal by July, but I know it will never healthily happen by April. If I could lose another 40 lbs by April I would be within 20 lbs of my overall goal weight which is better than where I am now. Any advice or tips on what I can do to speed up the weight loss process? I exercise 4-5 days a week and although I don't necessarily eat healthy all the time, I do stay around my daily calorie goal of 1290. I would love to hear from you guys! Suggestions appreciated! Thanks!!

thats stupid. you would have to cut calories super-low, and lose alot of muscle in order to do this. and who says you wouldnt stall anyway?
even 1290calories is low. i would encourage increasing and not focusing on the scale. who cares what the number says if you LOOK better?
do you do strength training? that is a must for body composition.0 -
Not really possible to lose 40 lbs in 7 weeks unless you are very obesse. What have you been losing on 1,290? Is this net or gross? You may need to increase calories and just go for a toner body with increase workouts.0

Possible, probably. But you will f yourself up. I doubt you want to be on the beach looking like a sick tired weakling,
Do yourself a favor and transform your lifestyle during these next 7 weeks. You will feel amazing on your vacation. And on the NEXT vacation, you will be ripped.0 -
Agree that you should try some strength training.
I was really intimidated by it, but it isn't scary, I promise!0 -
Not likely, sorry. That would be nearly a pound a day (40 in 49 days). You would have to eat absolutely nothing plus burn 1000+ calories a day0

Short of Chopping off a limb.. No.0

I think that's unachievable.
My advice is to increase your exercising, start by adding an extra 10 minutes per day each week or alternatively work out 6-7 days a week instead.
You could also try cutting your carb intake.
It's not going to lose you 40lbs, but you will still notice body changes in 7 weeks from doing this (OR following what you are doing now of course but this may increase it a little).0 -

Not gonna happen. Get yourself a good spray tan, (Tan makes you look thinner, especially your legs) a great manicure and pedicure, a fresh hair cut, a cute swim suit cover-up, and hold your head high gorgeous!0
-
If your diet and workout routines are perfect, you could probably lose 15 to 20, which is still really noticeable.0
-
Why don't you tell your boyfriend when YOU want to go. Why did he move up your vacation without consulting you?0
-
It's possible if you go in biggest loser style, but I don't suggest that.0
-
Sorry but no, not possible without cutting off a limb or two.
You could lose maybe 15lbs in 7 weeks.0 -
Do you actually use both legs regularly?0

i honestly think withe right mind and dedication you can! i was told, whether anyone agrees or not, that you eat your 1290 just burn that same amount n you will lose! some ppl think not eating back exercise cals puts you into starvation mode but my personal doc n i talked to a trainer says that eat normal n dont worry what you exercised unless you feel hungry...then just make the right decisions0

The right decision is to completely disregard this post.0 -

Get Jillian Michaels to be your personal trainer in person for 45 days (the real Jillian not the DVD version), go on the biggest loser show for 45 days or join a local boot camp and go four times a week until your beach trip.0

but I know it will never healthily happen by April.....
I think you answered your own question0 -
Maybe you could compromise with your boyfriend on when the trip will occur? We're going to Puerto Rico on Mar. 1. While I am not at my goal weight, I'm going to rock the weight loss I've done so far. (And I'm excited to use the gym at the resort we'll be at.)0

Horrible advice.
Whatever you do, do not listen to this.0 -

The right decision would be to disregard this post. Short of liposuction, that much weightloss in that short a time is unhealthy if not impossible.0 -

Why do you need to lose 40lbs to go to the beach? ...just sayin'. So maybe you don't get into a bikini. Or, **** it, maybe you do. Either way, it's not worth killing yourself with diet and exercise over. If what you're doing currently is working for you, then keep at it. You're not gonna drop 40lbs in 7 weeks. Period. End of story. Just relax, and let it be what it is. Last time I checked, there is no weight maximum at the beach. I understand wanting to look your best, but trying to lose that kind of weight in that kind of time is just plain unhealthy.0
-
There are no stupid questions or ideas. I'm afraid to say that this isn't doable in 7 weeks. Just keep up with what you are doing. As long as you feel better and happy it won't matter how much you lost by vacation time. Plus, when you reach your goal you should go on another vacation to reward yourself.0

Anne Boleyn lost 14 lbs. in less than a second.
It's possible to lose a lot of weight very quickly-- I've just never heard of a healthy way to do it.0 -
@babyblake 11According to myfitnesspal, I am supposed to eat only 1290 calories per day, I did not just choose that number on my own. I haven't really done much strength training as of yet. I mostly walk/run an hour a day for exercise and use a resistance band several days a week.
@Melo1966 So far I have been losing about 2 lbs a week by eating 1290 and exercising.
@taso42 Thanks for the advice. I definitely don’t wanna screw this up.
@carolyn00000 Love your advice! Thanks so much!
@mehearty This isn't our own “personal” vacation. We probably won’t go anywhere by ourselves until August, but his family goes to the beach every other year (grandparents, parents, grandkids, etc.) and we always make it a point to go. Usually they don’t go until June, but this year they are going earlier so it is not really something we can control.
@Heitor71 I think you’re right! Haha
@kimbernada I wish we could compromise on the trip! Like I told @mehearty above, this is a family vacation and not our personal vacation so we don’t really have much control over the timing. I guess I should just cross my fingers and hope I’m at my goal weight by the time we go alone in August! Congratulations on such an amazing loss by the way!
@RingSize8 I didn’t mean that I had to lose 40 lbs in order to go to the beach, I just meant that I’d like to be able to lose 40 lbs before going. Either way, you’re right, it isn’t worth killing myself over. Hopefully I will be there by August when we go on our own vacation.
I think I replied back to everyone that asked a question.. At least I hope I did. After getting together and discussing the trip with everyone earlier, it looks like we may actually be going in mid-to-late April which means I will have about 9 weeks rather than 7. Granted, I still can’t healthily lose 40 lbs in 9 weeks, but hopefully I can at least lose half of that. Thanks for all the advice y’all! I appreciate it!0
