So I'm new to MFP but I'm determined to make this work. I've yo-you'd for years but I'm determined to make a lifestyle change this time. I'm a mother of 3 & since the baby is now 7, it's high time I lost the "baby" weight for good. I've been running for a couple of years with an awesome group of women in my town & that's been amazing & inspiring but I need to do more. I joined a gym last month & I'm loving the group classes (I'm the type that needs the group setting or the buddy system to stick with it-part of what led me to MFP). I've found that my biggest challenge is my diet. You see, I've come to the conclusion that being a skinny kid was a blessing & a curse. Yes, I could eat anything & everything I wanted whenever I wanted & never weighed more than 110 pounds. the curse is that I never thought about whether I was eating healthy foods, or whether my portions were too big. as long as my jeans still fit there were no worries! At 21 I had my 1st child. I lost 25 of the 30 pounds I gained relatively easily. Then life got messy; my marriage was breaking down, I was miserable & the weight started creeping up. At the worst point I was at 155. Then it got worse-I went through a rough divorce & a nastier custody fight. I was a single mom with a 3 year old & stress through the roof. The pounds came off quickly but in retrospect I wasn't healthy. I wasn't exercising or eating healthy-I just wasn't eating as much. After a couple of years life got better, I met an amazing man who is now my husband & we have 2 children. I gained about 30 pounds with each of those pregnancies as well, and lost all but 5-10 pounds each time. My biggest struggle is making healthy eating & daily exercise a way of life. I'm hopeful that MFP will keep me on track & provide the tools & support to truly make healthy living my new lifestyle. I'm looking forward to making new friends along the way!

Sorry for your difficult path but you found a great site with a lot of great supporters. You can do this. Be patient, make small changes every few weeks and before you know it you're right where you want to be! Best of luck.

So glad to see you on here! This website has been a great tool for helping me determine what I'm actually putting in my face and how much exercise I'm truly getting in daily. You seem to have the exercise stuff down pat and the food part will follow! If you haven't already, make sure to friend Angel on here - she's great at accountability and managed to figure out how to eat healthy without it seeming like a chore.
