Cooking Fresh Green Beans

I usually just steam them in water with a tiny bit of EVOO.
Sometimes my husband sautees them with a little bit of EVOO and slivered almonds (maybe a little bit of minced garlic too).

I've always boiled them to an al dente texture (still a bit crunchy). While I've never sauteed them myself, I've had them that way in restaurants before and they're excellent.0

I always just boil them also but leave them a little crunchy mmmm0

Saute with olive oil or butter with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simple and tasty!0

I put them in a micro cooker from Pampered Chef with a little bit of water and add a little Mrs Dash. Good, quick side dish for me when I don't want to eat some of the things the rest of the family is eating - like corn!0

I boil them for three minutes, then drain them. Then I saute a lot of garlic (4 cloves or so for 2 cups of beans, but you can do it to taste), in a little olive oil for 30 seconds and toss in the beans. heat, and salt to taste. Delicious!!0

I like to boil mine with some ham and onion. make a meal out of them. mmmmm....I also don't boil them too long because I like a little crunch to them.0

Try them roasted. Toss with a little oil and put in a baking pan/cookie sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and roast in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes. They will have charred spots and smell devine. For a little added fun and protein, skip the salt and add parmesan cheese about half way through the cooking process. I can eat these all day long, cold or room temperature.0

Mix 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 tablespoon white wine vinager, a teaspoon or so od mustard seed(that comes in a jar, not from the dry seasoning aisle) salt and pepper. Boil water, put the green beans in for one minute. Rinse with cold water. Toss them in the olive oil mixture and add 1/8 cup blue cheese crumbles. You can also add toasted walnuts and/or fresh lemon juice to this. This recipe is for one serving.
It's not super low in calories (a little over 200 with the walnuts, if I remember correctly), but I serve it with low cal stuff, like grilled chicken, and it is delicious!0 -

this is exactly what I do....I also will use lemon pepper and/or garlic salt....I don't cook them long...I like them crunchy..0 -
I make baked green bean fries.... coat them in olive oil and some bread crumbs and seasonings, pop them in the oven, and enjoy.0

I like making blistered green bean which I cook in cast iron over pretty high heat with some garlic until they are blistered and then you can add some sriracha to top it off. Great additions to this are sliced almonds or even better, bacon! I rarely use the bacon though. Dish is awesome without it too.0

I put them on a baking sheet with sliced red bell pepper and then spritz them with a little EVOO and broil them until they are slightly cooked - but still crunchy. Yum!0

I like to saute them in olive oil with fresh garlic. Once they are nicely sauted (a little brown) I put a little bit of shredded cheese on them. Also put fresh ground pepper and sea salt. MMMM!!!0

This ^^^^ I use grapeseed oil or olive oil, minced garlic and sea salt....just until dark green and still crispy. I do the same with fresh asperagus...absolutely awesome!0 -
Definitely roast them. I do this with almost all my veggies (I love it with broccoli and cauliflower but especially broccoli will stink up the apartment). It is absolutely DELICIOUS and makes me actually WANT to eat my veggies!
edit: I think one of the reasons I really like to do this is the simplicity. A tinfoil-covered pan means all you have to do to clean up is throw away the tinfoil! Plus, no standing around the kitchen... just pop them in the oven with a timer and you're good to go.0 -

What I do is snap off the ends, and clean them in water. Then, there are a couple of different ways I like to prepare them. You can boil them, until they still have a bit a crispness to them, an eat them raw, or, you can put about a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan, heat it up on medium, add the green beans, and if you like, some onion, a little bit of raw red pepper, water chestnuts, whatever you wish, and just add some salt and pepper to season. Another great way to eat them is cook them up in the olive oil, again, keeping them somewhat crisp, and add a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove into the pan, just a little bit of each. Very good!!!!0
