Having trouble sticking to calories

How do you stick to your calorie limit? I find myself sooo tempted to go over, not because I'm actually hungry, but because I eat as a stress relief. For the record, I am only trying to lose 5 lbs or so, I run 4 times a week and lift heavy weights at the gym, and ALWAYS eat my exercise calories. But I just have the urge to snack and graze all day long. Like "oooh a tootsie roll, oooh some potato chips" and those calories do add up.

So, anyone else have this problem? How do you overcome it?

I don't know what your goal is, but with only 5 Lbs to lose you should be going very, very slowly...no more than .5 Lbs per week loss goal. I'm assuming you're doing 1,200 calories, but I have no idea without your diary being open...if that's the case, reset your goals and eat more.

Looking at your profile pic though, I wouldn't say weight loss is what you should be shooting for. Seems like you may have a body composition issue you are unhappy with. In that case, may I suggest eating at maintenance and lifting some heavy weights. No, you will not get bulky...you will get "toned" and get the body composition you're looking for.

I do left heavy weights and have for a while. I actually am pretty toned, just trying to slim down a tiny bit. I am eating 1430 calories per day before working out. How do I make my diary open?

My question is more about fighting the urge to snack unnecessarily, even when not hungry. Just wondering how other people deal with this.

There should be something in the settings to open it up. 1400ish calories is a fairly reasonable number, though eating 1600 will still probably help you lose weight, it's not a big deal at all. To keep from grazing, I suggest putting snack foods somewhere harder to get to or somewhere out of sight so you don't think about them as much. If you feel like snacking, try and find a healthy alternative like pretzels for your salty cravings or a fruit for your sweet ones.
