    1 pound of FAT = ~3500 calories

    1 pound = 454 grams
    1 gram of fat = 9 calories
    ~86%-90% of a fat cell triglycerides (.86 x 454) = 390
    9 x 390 =3510 calories

And doesn't 1 pound of lean muscle =~ 600 calories?

I seem to remember reading that if we drastically reduce calorie intake, for example below 1200 per day, we start burning muscle. So you might see a quick drop in body weight from doing so, but it is a loss of muscle rather than fat.
  • If that's true then I am about 420000 calories :o
too many zeros for my liking! haha
