Small NSV or maybe SV

I finally decided that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. I was going to lose the weight and get healthy! I started with MFP in December, after losing about 3 lbs earlier that month. I'm finding it very useful in my new lifestyle change. It was nice to be able to handle Christmas parties and dinner, eat what I liked, but keep track of it all and manage to stay at a healthy calorie level. I've lost more than 30 lbs, but I'm not seeing it on myself and even a co-worker asked me a few days ago if I was still working on losing weight.

However, I just found out that for the first time in a long while I am not morbidly obese, my BMI has gone below 40. Yeah!

Maybe co workers aren't impressed yet but I'm sure your doctor would congratulate you. Well done for taking care of yourself. Keep going and suddenly one day people will notice. It's quite strange really how they SUDDENLY notice, as if it all happened overnight.

Even though people take notice, it's sometimes hard to tell for yourself. Actions kind of help. Like fitting into smaller clothes, taking photos of yourself and comparing them to old ones. It's been posted before, but I've heard it takes time for your brain to adjust to the change in your body. There's a quote that says something like.."it takes 4 weeks for you to notice change in your body, 8 weeks for your friends to notice and 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice." So it just takes time. Congrats on the 30 lb loss so far though. Really great job. :)
  • I'm new here and this may sound stupid but what is NSV???:blushing:

30 lbs is awesome!! I have lost 19, but I don't see it either, my mom says she can see I have lost weight, but thats the only person. lol the other posters are right about the "all of a sudden" noticing though. I have a friend who lost about 60 lbs and literally within a week I asked her for an update because she looked fabulous. It was like all of a sudden I actually look at her.

I also lost 19 pounds. I have 1 coworker who noticed, but no one else. It's ok. I know that I feel better and have bought some smaller clothes, so that's all that matters.
  • I read something that said it takes us 4 weeks to notice a difference, those closest to us take 8 weeks and everyone else 12 weeks! Don't quit because the long and short of it is that it may take a while for others to notice, I have been at it a short 5 weeks and finally just noticed a difference in myself. So there hasn't even been time for others to notice. It makes me push harder because one of my goals is to eventually here the words "have you been losing weight?" Just know that as long as you are doing something you are doing so much better than when you did nothing and that eventually you will get there where everyone wants to know how you did it. I got faith in you! Keep up the good work!

I have been doing Insanity 3x per week for about 7 weeks now and other varying workouts about 2x per week. Have not lost any weight but have seen lots of toning in my arms. Today, though, I really noticed how toned my calves are. Quite a difference. I know my abs are toned, too but they are covered in about 10-15 lbs of padding making the toning unnoticable :-P
