She's a moron. You're weight is fine. You would be way too skinny.0
-
I'm 5ft 9in the lowest I would go is 150lbs. Maybe try adding some lean mass through weight training as for every 1lb of muscle you have your body burns an extra 50 calories an hour even at rest0
-
I am 5'8 female and i think 140 is as low as I would go but I have wideset hip bones so they poke out far when i am too low.0
-
BF% is way more important anyway. I wouldnt go back to her.0
-
Im 5"9 and my understanding 130 is the lowest you should be, personally I am shooting for 167.0
-
135 is the lowest weight recommended for your height- any chart you google will tell you that . I am also 5'9 and weigh about the same. personally 135 makes me look anorexic. my target weight is btwn 148-150, but with tone, lean muscle. at that weight I am a size 8 and I feel my best. good luck, but I think that is too low for someone who will have a good amount of muscle mass. your target should be for how you feel and look, maybe a body fat percentage? or a pant size, and not just a number on the scale.0

Not too low at all, depending on your frame.
I'm 5'9" and 125, and I maintain on 1900 a day during the week, and more on the weekends.
I do make sure I exercise at least 4x to 5x a week.0 -
Oh wait, you're a guy.
Nevermind.
That's probably too low for a dude.0 -
I am 5'4" WW wanted me at 140 but my Dr say no way are you to go under 150 and he would prefer 155. So I would say check with your doctor and see what they say. One scale does not fit all.0
-
I am 5'6 and I talked to a personal trainer and if I went below 140 I would die apparently because my lean mass (vital organs+bones) is 137. Just sayin'. Maybe that's what they meant?0
-
my response was geared toward a woman, for a man that is WAY too low! my husband is same height and 155, lean muscle but way to skinny! find another trainer.0

I thought the same! im amazed at your weight tho! do you have a small frame? 1900 a day? gosh, im having trouble getting it off with 1500/day... what do you eat? exercising 4/wk.0 -
yes that sounds good! I'm 5'8 and my ultimate goal is 120-125ish
wait you're a guy? ok than that is way too low0 -
I'm 5'9" and now 136. You can see in my profile pics where I was at 139ish. I'm actually really surprised at how I look at this weight (I've never been this low before) because I've seen shorter women at higher weights look much leaner, and I've maintained lean body mass fairly well because I've been doing a lot of bodyweight exercises. I could safely lose a bit more body fat/weight and not look scrawny. That said, I'm about to add heavy lifting to my workouts and expect my weight to go up, and BF down (I suspect, but we'll see). I think whether a weight is appropriate for an individual really depends on their own frame.
ETA: OH. You're a guy. Again, I think it depends on your frame, but that does seem a little low for a guy (who should be able to build/carry more lean muscle mass).0 -
I am 5'9" and I can't seem to get below 173....I exercise a lot and seem to be stuck there. At the least, when I wasn't exercising, I weighed 158....I can't see me getting that low ever again. I am aiming to get to 169, but not seeing it happen any time soon. And I have lost over 80 lbs. in the last 2 years....0

New trainer.realistic goals. /thread0
-
Im actually 5' 8 1/2'' and I was that weight for a lot of years...it was a good weight, for me. I feel really good between 130-140, so I think thats reasonable, for a woman. But, you are guy, so,,,,I think, might be a little lean.0
-
I miss read that earlier!!! Get a new trainer! Sorry didnt relize your a guy thats to thin0
-
Even for a thin frame that sounds low for a guy. I'd imagine you'd look downright gaunt at that weight. 150-155 sounds like a more reasonable range, 145 would be about the lower limit I'd imagine.0
-
Did you tell your trainer that your goal was to work as a scarecrow in somebody's corn field? 135 is way low for a 5'9" guy. I'd say ditch that trainer and find one who knows what they're talking about.0
-
i believe i have seen you post this before... this is WAY too small0
-
You had another account here, I remember an identical post just about, from the same person in that profile picture, who gave the same thigh measurement and goal weight. No idea what you are at, but people do remember topics here, lol.
i am glad you remember too.0 -

^^ This. I would suggest going back and looking at the previous comments.0 -
No. I am a 5'2" woman between 130 and 135 and I think that is a reasonable weight for me....not you.0

Try building those arms and legs up a little. 17.25" is some tiny legs0
-
I am 6 foot 1. When I was 22 I weighed 155 lbs. (Looks like about the equivalent of 135 at 5'9".) My ankles are 8.25 inches and wrists are 7 inches... I'm a toothpick.
That year I ran a 1.5 mile in less than 9:30, kicked *kitten* in basic training PT (pushups, etc) and was doing 2-1/2 somersaults off the high dive. You can't hold a tuck like that if you're weak.
Having said all that, I would still go for more lean mass though, instead of trying to get super thin.0 -
Edited because I didn't see the op was a guy and holy crap no thats not reasonable.0
