Really grateful for MFP

The last couple of weeks have been hell in my home. I have 2 teenagers with issues--some emotional and some medical. At the moment they can barely be in the same house together, let alone the same room. My daughter just got out of the hospital today after a 3 day stay due to a kidney infection--made worse by her emotional state and kidney disease. She's 14. The kidney disease is genetic (PKD) which she inherited from her father.

For much of the week I was only able to access MFP on my iPhone. I cannot see or respond to forums on the phone, just post in my own diary and comment on my friends' progress.

When I finally am at my laptop or at work, I cannot wait to get on here and see peoples' success stories, suggestions, pleas for help, all the atta girls and atta boys, etc.

I am grateful for this website for helping me stay focused through the crap and for the support of friends I'm getting to know. This is so much more than losing weight, or getting in shape. There is an entire mind/body/spirit thing going on that I'm really just beginning to understand and embrace.

Thank you all.
Amy

When you're in control of your body, you feel more in control of your life no matter what happens. A lot of young people who grow up in bad homes develop eating disorders for this very reason. With MyFitnessPal we have a great tool to accurately control what goes into our body and know that we're doing the _right_ thing.

I recommend this website/app to anyone that will listen but not many do... They seem to think it takes a lot of effort and stress to track what you eat but I'd rather scan a few barcodes and weigh things for 5-10 minutes a day then stress at night about binging or wake up every day seeing no results in my fitness and health goals!!

You are strong and doing wonderfully given all that's going on. I have a 19 year old that is an emotional wreck at the moment but we'll get through it and minor compared to all you have going. We're here for the long haul! This site has become my safe haven so I understand that bond. Funny some think of this as just a site to track weight loss but it is a wonderful place for the emotional and Psychological support we all need as well! Here's to a bright and better time for you! Hugs! Ann
