I often add cottage cheese and frozen fruits to my shakes.

In the 90's when everyone was doing diet shakes, there was a powdered mix that got thicker the longer is was blended, and could even be whipped up in to a mousse and frozen like ice cream. Anyone remember what that was? For some reason I'm thinking California Slim or Trim or something like that.

Wow, thank you everyone! I really adore oatmeal flour, chocolate and peanut butter mix with greek yogurt. a frozen banana sounds like a good choice to make it thicker.

    Xanthan gum.
Yep. Sounds weird, but 1/4 tsp or less will thicken a smoothie.

    Haha...

Make sure it's quality to ensure smoothness. Goose or Belvedere should do the trick.

Seriously this....you could mix water and protein powder w/ice alone and add the xanthan gum and perhaps guar gum and it's the thickest and creamiest smoothie. Xanthan thickens and Guar smooths out the ice.

Avocado? Never thought about that. Do you mix that with any fruit comb?

Throw a Chobani 6oz yogurt in there. My favorite is Pineapple 2%.

    Yesterday I made this.

    Scoop(s) of vanilla protein powder
    Banana
    Chobani Pineapple 2%
    1 cup SILK
    ICE

    FCKN DELiCIOUS!

I add cottage cheese, and sometimes sugar-free pudding mix for a flavor change. If I am using vanilla whey powder with cottage cheese, almond milk, and sugar free cheesecake pudding mix (1/4 package only adds 25 cal), it's like drinking cheesecake batter. I make that one when I am craving a naughty treat, and it tastes wicked, but is still healthy, relatively low calorie, and high in protein.
