Hey guys, I need majorrr help!!!!! I'm getting trimmer and all but this stomach, man...it's like it's its own organism, like a parasite on my body. I NEED TO GET RID OF IT!
MY PROBLEM:
So specifically what my problem is is that I am getting more toned--I can feel my abs now; they were non-existant before--BUT here's the thing...theres an OBNOXIOUS LAYER OF FAT on top of it. This isn't baby fat people!! ...Though it may be, I'm about to turn 19 in about a week, so some people may consider me a baby :P--when do you lose all of your baby fat?? ...SORRY, off topic.
Anyways, I would like to know if there are any ways to get rid of this generous layer of fat upon my newly toned-ish abs that I know exist, because I can feel them. They're there and I know its not my imagination.
I'm working out, I'm eating healthy foods, I'm eating more times a day but less amounts of food, I'm drinking water on water...What else can I do???? My abs don't look very good with fat on top of them... All I feel like my body is doing is strengthening my muscles but not getting rid of the fat.
Please help this desperate girl in need. I'm going on a cruise for spring break and my bikini and the eyes of the general public will greatly appreciate it if I don't have so much fat hanging out. People don't know I have abs under there, only I know that.
Feel free to add me! No post is complete without a plug for myself.

Step 1. You're going to have to lose more weight.

^This. You can't spot reduce. Just have to lose the body fat.0 -
Eat the right amount of calories. Lift heavy. Run fast. In that order of importance.0

Actually, you're going to need to burn more fat. The belly fat is the last fat to go. Focus on your back and legs first (since that's the major carrier of fat) and eventually the body will wind up attacking your belly fat. Once you loose more fat, you can do core exercises that will tone your abs furthermore. We all have washboard abs under all the layers of fat.0 -
Same here, but if you can feel your abs tightening then once that layer of fat has finally shifted you'll be one happy girl. The stomach tends to be the last place people lose it, like the face tends to be the first place.0

having the same kind of problem here, but I guess the only option is to keep losing more and lift as I've read here a lot..0

You can't spot reduce, the first response was the only one needed.0 -

I did a challenge for a week of only 15 g or less of sugar per day. This is BELOW the reccomended 20 g per day for women. I felt TERRIBLE for half the week (your body is kind of detoxing from the sugar), then started to feel much better. At the end of the week my stomach was TRANSFORMED!! No joke :-) The sugar goes right to your stomach, and we eat far too much of it. I didn't even eat fruit for the week. Now I have upped my sugar to 20-25 per day and once a month will do the 15 or less for a week. It is good to have your eyes opened to how much sugar we put into our bodies that is unnecessary. Try it for a week. It isn't as hard as it sounds!0 -
Dav is correct.
You could also gain quality LBM if fat is at a set point.
This is the hardest part though and i'm right there with ya.0 -
The fact that you can't spot reduce is correct. But one other thing that helps, keep your abs and core engaged as you work out on ANYTHING>>>> arms, legs, thighs, back, ANYTHING. This helps to strengthen your core, and gives your abs a nice workout too. I don't do any exercises specifically with my abs in mind, other than planks, and I have much better ones than I used to!!0

Thanks everyone!! As much as I wish I could get rid of my stomach I totally get that I can't spot lose. I'll just keep going!! Thanks for your help!0

This, this, and this...
You need to melt off the layer of fat on yoru stomach to see your abs. I beleive for woman it is about 14% BF and guys it is like 10%. I am about 13% right now and the three percent that I want to lose to get to 10 is pretty much all on my lower stomach...
Oh and doing massive amount of crunches or other ab workouts is no going to do the trick..
Does your current work out program include bench press, squats, deadlifts? If not, you should really incorporate these.0 -
