Vegetarians...can you recommend any really savoury recipes?

Options
I love salty savoury food for my dinner, and I would like to eat a non-meat dinner maybe twice a week, just to give my system a break from meat...

Anyone want to share their favourite filling savoury dinner ? (And associated calories if you've estimated it)

:) Thanks

Check out the Happy Herivore web site.. she's awesome... she's actually vegan, but the recipes are easy & great. She has a few cook books out too, but she shares some of her recipes.

    Also Oh, She Glows

I'm addicted to this Black Bean Chili recipe:

1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 2 cups canned black beans, 1 tbsp. chili powder, 1 can (15 oz.) diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup cilantro.

Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Place onion, garlic, chili powder, beans and tomatoes in a large pot and simmer covered for about 20 minutes. Ladle into bowls and top with cilantro.

I've estimated this at 4 servings, which comes out to 158 calories a serving. I'm sure it will vary depending on which products you use and how much. I go over/under on the tomatoes and beans all the time, so I'm forever tinkering with this in the recipe builder. I like heat, so I use a can of Rotel diced tomatoes with habanero peppers when I can find it. Sometimes I add a 1/4 cup of low fat shredded Mexican cheese and crunch up about 5 Tostito scoops in the bowl as well. Since I don't always do that, these extra calories would need to be added in separately. But I think it's totally worth the caloric hit!

I stir-fry a mix of frozen and fresh vegetables fairly often with a little bit of olive oil and some House of Tsang Classic Stir-Fry Sauce. I throw in a faux grilled chicken, but of course you don't have to do that part. It is delicous and can be lower sodium and calories if you go easy on the oil and sauces.

Palak paneer (Indian creamed spinach curry with cheese cubes). Chickpea curry.

I'm a huge bean and chickpea fan, myself. There are lots of terrific vegetarian recipe sites; Google around:
