so are the calories burned listed for downhill snow skiing even close to what you actually burn? I go out ski all day, blue and black slopes, relatively agressively. MFP says about 1100 calories for 3 hours - I have been staying out for 6 - 7 hours but some of that is spent on lifts etc.

    I woud not rely on that. That seems really high. I ski all the time and don't track it. I am sure you burn at least 800 cals in 6hrs so I save it for the bar!

    Actually, that is about right.

    A very conservative estimate would be 300 calories per hour for downhill skiing.

    The time on lifts is generally factored into the estimates.

  • thanks for the info!! I've been using conservative time estimates and still logging all my food just not worrying about staying at my usual levels for the week. Looking forward to seeing what the scale says after I have been home and back to normal routine for a couple of days))
