REALLY frustrated!!

I have been at this since Jan 3 and had lost 9.5 pounds - the first 6 pounds I lost in the first three weeks and then it took me six weeks to lose the other 3.5 - not as fast as I had hoped, but at least it was working. I started 30DS on Friday, did it Sat & Sun (legs were SO sore I could hardly get up & down!) along with 20 minutes of additional cardio on my treadmill, elliptical or bike. I weigh on Monday morning and I was UP 2 lbs! I was really discouraged, but thought maybe it was just fluid. SO I weighed again this morning to see - and nope, it's still up the same 2 lbs. I am SO frustrated right now. I'm staying under my calories (which I had reset to 1500 some time back) and busting my butt, only to gain back 2 pounds that I had fought so hard to lose after trying 30DS, thinking it would help up my weight loss! I feel like I'm getting no where at this point. I hate to admit it (mostly on here because I see so many people who put others down for saying this - shame on them!) but I'm about ready to give up, throw in the towel & quit.

Don't give up!!! It's easy to get obsessed with that number on the scale, but in all honestly, it's better to lower your body fat percentage than to lose weight.

I've noticed that when I start a new exercise program, I don't see weight loss for about 4 weeks. Especially with any program that's stressing your muscles. You retain water to repair those muscles & it's a good thing. Continue with what you're doing. It's definitely frustrating not to see the scale moving, but it will happen. While I was staying at the same weight, I still noticed that I look better in the mirror. You might not notice a change considering that we are our own worst critics, so I think the best way to see your losses is not by the scale, but by taking monthly pictures and comparing them.

Mostly likely water weight - and you certainly didn't gain 2lbs of fat over the weekend. When you start a new exercise routine, or any time your muscles are sore, they retain water to repair themselves. Those 2lbs will come back off.

Take photos & measurements - they will tell you more accurately how you're doing than the scale will. Hang in there!

Don't give up!! You are doing so *awesome*!! Go to the grocery store and pick up 2 4# bags of sugar and *feel* and *see* how much you've lost!!

You and I started MFP on the same day. In my first 3 weeks I lost 12#, then *nothing* for the whole month of February. (actually my weight was fluctuating *up* about 4#-- yikes!!) However, I started tracking my measurements January 26, because I *knew* how obsessed with the scale I get, and I would have just wanted to cry and quit if I didn't see progress of *some* kind. But you know what I found? Even though the scale wasn't moving down, the inches *were*, even though I couldn't see it. Then last Sunday, all of a sudden I registered another 1.5# loss.

Don't give up. This is a marathon, not a sprint. We didn't gain our weight overnight, and even though I keep wishing, the Skinny Fairy isn't going to visit in the middle of the night to take it away.

    Friend me if you want.
