family...not supportive

  • I agree with the folks encouraging you to stay at school instead of going home on weekends. My university encouraged freshmen students not to go home at all the first semester, until Thanksgiving! You need some time away to adjust to being an adult and to help your parents see you as the adult you are becoming. This really does sound like a control issue, and if you can stick to a good, healthy meal plan when you're at school, I'd be doing that more.

If you get pushback (and you probably will) from your mom, explain to her why you're more comfortable recovering from your eating disorder in a place that supports your healthy decisions. Your nutritionist may be able to back you up on this.

If you need the extra motivation, look into joining a club that meets on weekends - maybe cycling or running, or a community service program! That way you have a concrete "reason" to stay at school!

thank you all, you're ideas really have helped me so much!

as for why i go home, my family is very close and on the weekends that my younger siblings have a lot of activities, they need my help to get them there and back, plus i like to see my brother and sisters excel in the things they love. (: i also have to go to my nutritional therapist twice a month and my psychologist once a month. so i cant really avoid going home.. (which, trust me, is what am dying to do most of the time)

and i am very involved in clubs. i am a Vice President in our PTK chapter (honor society), i am in PBL (business fraternity), i work in our school's day care, i tutor, and i log community service hours up the yin-yang lol. i also take 18 credit hours. trust me, I'm not lacking in the social part of college (:
