eating more on days I don't go to the gym

I'm just curious if there are other people who face the same problem. I tend to eat more on days that I don't go to the gym than on days that I do go to the gym. It seems I am more hungry when I don't work out (I guess that is more motivation to work out every day). But I also guess that my total net calories balance themselves out. One day (not going to the gym) and eating more and then the next day going to the gym and not eating as much. Anyone else out there that eats more on days they don't have an intense workout?

Yes, I feel hungry and eat a bit more the day after I do Jillian's Shred. It is because you work major muscle groups and so you tend to be hungrier when you are weight lifting.0

Nope, I try to stay closely to my base calorie goal and eat any exercise calories everyday. I only have one rest day per week and usually it's a struggle to stay under because I'm so hungry from working out the previous 6 days! I think it's just 'cause your metabolism is revved and your body is thinking you'll work out ... but I don't know why you wouldn't be as hungry on work out days. Exercising curbs appetite but I can't imagine it lasting all day.0

I am very much the same way. I tend to workout later in the evening so it doesnt affect me as much now, but after a workout I have absolutely no desire to eat, and often have to remind myself to consume something...or if I workout in the morning, to remind myself to eat regular snacks and meals...but on the days I dont workout or don't intend to I find I'm way hungrier. Eating exercise calories is pretty difficult for me as well!0

I workout early in the mornings. I ALWAYS eat more on the days I DON"T go the gym!. I have no idea why or how. On the days I go I can control it more.0

WOW! thats meeee! on days i dont work out, i find myself struggling to stay under the 1200.
days i do workout, i struggle to even touch my exercise calories. i have to remind myself to eat more.0 -
Even on my "rest" days I tend to do something that burns calories. Usually its talking a walk (around a shopping mall... hehe) or something that gets me moving and can burn 200 or so calories. It's enough that I can stay under my calories for the day. But most days I'm burning anywhere from 300-600 so I don't really have too much trouble staying under that. But it is really hard to stay at 1200 calories if I didn't do any sort of exercise at all, which is why it's all the more important!0

Yes, I'm often pretty hungry on my rest days ... but I'm usually hungry on my work out days too. Especially after (especially after I've cooled down). I think on my non-workout days, it's often a case of boredom or wondering what to do now. I feel hungry ... but I think it's just because I feel like I eat like a horse on workout days but can't do that on rest days. Who knows.

Make sure you drink loads of water (not gatordae etc, water). I play golf competetively and often do not feel hungry when playing, BUT, often I don't feel thirsty either and performance drops. Usually, on the course, as soon as you feel hunger or thirst, it's too late.
I always "force" myself to eat (good snacks, not hotdogs and hamburgers) during a round(s) and ensure I drink plenty of water. I often don't feel the need to do either ,,,,,, but at the same time, whenever I eat or drink out there, my body rarely tells me it's full or not thirsty either. I have a 25oz drink bottle that I drink at least twice per 9. At least! Especially when walking and/or it's hot. (some days, there's a few pit stops though ... especially when the nerves increase).
After hydrating and fueling my body on the course, I can really feel the difference in the way I feel, when I don't, it's very noticeable. Prior to conciously hydrating/fueling myself, I never noticed any different - but that's probably because I had nothing to compare.0 -
wow this is interesting to me, as i am sitting here at my desk famished right now!!!!!!!!!!! i am waiting til 4 to eat my pria bar, then i have dinner planned, and then i will have used up all my calories, and i did not work out today. i wonder if this concept is normal, as yes i do eat more on days i exercise, i feel like i have "permission" to due to exercise calories, but today i am sooo hungry, i keep drinking water but man am i hungry!0

Thanks for the feedback. Its nice to know I'm not the only one. I work out in the evenings also and since I bring my lunch and snacks to work I am able to control that and after I work out, I eat a normal dinner. But on days that I don't work out, I eat a normal dinner, but then end up snacking because I am so hungry. It's probably just boredom like someone else mentioned. But thanks for the feedback. This will be something I watch out for in the future0
