Realizing that this is not a diet, but a way of life. I want to be able to eat what I want and not worry about how many calories there are.0

I'm a foodie! I love to cook and go out and have amazing gourmet food. PLUS I work with people like this too and we ALWAYS have food food food everywhere. I just have to rise above it, but lord last week was NOT a good week for me, time to get it back together..................... at least I still ran last week, so props to me! LOL! :drinker:0

Curious: Why do you (or, anyone for that matter) label yourself as a dieter?0

I struggle to to pay y grocery bills,
4500 calories a day gets expensive.0 -
Right now the biggest thing i'm struggling with is to know how many calories i should be eating with all this argument everyone is having over too few calories vs too many calories. Who is able to eat a zillion calories and who is able to eat less than 1200 calories. My head is spinning this morning.0

I would have to say butter and chocolate. Before I started my lifestyle change, I would drown everything in butter! A 3 lb tub would barely last a week, now it lasts about a month. Every time I would go to the store, I would buy a candy bar and eat it on the way home, or I would have my husband stop on his way home from work and buy me one.0

I don't like to cook, but love to eat out ! the hardest part is my husband and I have used food as our entertainment, and he is still pretty obscessed with food, so I feel like I am fighting this battle on my own. He is also over weight, but until he is ready to join me, I am exercising and eating healthy on my own. Every time we want to go out for a meal, I have to remind him that certain places are off limits for me, like Chinese Buffets ect. I try to accomidate his favorites, but it isn't much fun for me while I am worried about what I can eat.0

Getting stuck at a plateau for a month. Sugar USED to be a struggle and chocolate, oh my! Still can't enough chocolate but I can walk by the candy bars easier now.
Another struggle is cooking. I have 3 (my youngest will eat whatever I'm eating.) other people who will turn down their noses at my healthier foods that I make.0 -
Though I wouldn't label myself as a dieter (I'd go with health-conscious), it's definitely failing to see myself accurately in the mirror. I've got some mighty small clothing in my wardrobe, but when I could fit into the double zeros, I still didn't recognize that I was slim.0

I live in a foreign country where I don't know what is in a lot of the food I eat when I am taken out for dinner/lunch, and I don't know how it's prepared (and to be honest if I knew I would probably barf so it's better to be ignorant) so tracking is incredibly hard.
Also they use the metric system and I grew up on ounces and teaspoons and such so I spend a frustrating amount of time Googling things like "how much is ____g in ounces?"
I am always worrying that I am underlogging. Yet most weeks I loose weight, so I guess I'm managing. But I know there are lots of days where I must be eating more cals than I think just because I don't know what I'm eating.0 -

lol That is SO true!0 -
I never said that i was a dieter, but obviously that is what a lot of people consider it to be and can relate to the word. Your right, its a change in lifestyle0

food porn? lol0

gotta find time to cook at home, this way you know EXACTLY what you are getting0

for me it's the exercise part. I can control my portions 90% of the time. But I can't find any exercise I enjoy. I love fruits and veggies and I like to cook. I know how to cook healthy. I'm just not motivated to move my butt.0
-
I don't diet. That said, my biggest issue has always been time. I'm a slow eater, and foods of the healthier variety generally require more chewing time. I have low blood sugar, so I don't really have the option to have less frequent, higher calorie meals. I begin to resent the shear amount of time in my day used thinking about/planning/cooking/eating food.0

wow. glad you were able to reduce butter consumption, def not good for your cholesterol or heart health! congrats0 -
Trying to figure out how many calories I can eat and still lose weight. Too many carbs? Not enough protein? Increase fiber? I'm constantly trying to find balance.
Also, my husband is not dieting so he is always eating and not gaining weight! He doesn't understand why I can't eat whatever I want and doesn't try to help me with my diet. For example, he offers me cheesecake. Oh joy.0 -
My biggest struggle is staying consistent for longer than a month. I get discouraged when I don't see results right away and I go off of a good program that would help me if I just stuck to it. This site is helping me tho.0

my sweet tooth gets the best of me sometimes-chocolate that is, and I'm not talking about cheap hershey type, I'm talking about the creamy, velvety rich chocolate-major fat/calorie content. I could eat a whole bag of those little Lindt balls. Other than that I'm good.0

My biggest problem is Sweets! Plain and simple! Also knowing how much to eat. All this TDEE and BMR stuff has me confused.0

Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark!0 -
Someone mentioned it earlier but body dismorphism is the worst and nothing sucks more than looking in the mirror and thinking you've lost nothing so you go straight to those cookies because "Hey, it's not working anyways."
I still get the first part, been able to get over the responsive eating but it sucks.0 -
I definitely struggle with food!
My problem is if I buy a packet of cakes/biscuits/chocolate I will stuff my face.0 -
My friends love to eat out so it has been hard making good choices when eating out,0

Sundays, funny to say but on Sundays I am with the family; therefore, it is so easy to make the wrong decision ( food wise).0
-
My biggest problem is thinking I'm getting this all down pat. "A little this" and "a little that" won't mess me up. Or as I approach the 100lb mark, thinking that I am done. That I've gotten to where I am wanting to go.
Setting my mind on what is the mission every single day.0
