Hi I did a post last night just before I went to bed but the screen suddenly went blank and then up popped a note saying something llike closed for important updates :explode: I did mean to post first thing this morning, but got busy with other things.

:flowerforyou: I need to catch up with the posts so I'll check back with you later.

Bump for my spot on the thread -- we are certainly chatty so far this month.

Went to the gym this afternoon - 3.5 miles uphill on the TM in 65 minutes and 32,000+ pounds on the weight machines in 50 minutes. I love feeling strong! My neighbor and I also walked 3.7 miles last night in 63 minutes. We are evenly matched/paced, so it works out great.

Needed to stop at the store to pick up a prescription today and loaded up on fruits and veggies again. Some people have a Starbuck's or beer budget, but my money goes in the produce section every week. Pretty pricey these days. Hopefully my blueberry bushes will be big producers --- though this is the first year planted, so I'm not counting on it. It will be nice when the farmers markets start back up.

Paid bills this morning and did some other paperwork. Now to do laundry and start some white chili and cornbread for supper tonight. Time sure flies - I think of all I want to do on the weekend during the week and somehow it never is all done.

BTW - I'm taking back ALL of the spanx/flexees, etc., tomorrow. DH just laughed and said he knew that would happen. He does know me well. We'll celebrate our 40th anniversary in a couple of months.

Beautiful Saturday with lots of errands getting done. Unfortunately got the munchies this afternoon but plan to pop a DVD in and work off some of those calories.

Jo – love the analogy of peeling off the layers. We have layers in so many areas of our lives. Is JM helping with the batwings? I really will get back to it ASAP if it is.

Rosedoll – Happy Birthday and good luck on the test results.

Renny – You would think they would do something to remedy your situation. Hopefully the optometrist will make it right. Just a thought, did you happen to charge your glasses? Maybe you could talk to the credit card company and see if they could help you.

Katia – joy is the word for what you’re experiencing with your family. We loved the Columbia Gorge when we visited OR.
You can read when they’re gone. You know what they say about duck tape, it works for everything. Maybe just the threat of using it will work on your DH’s driving advice.

I though I was caught up and I just looked and I’m responding to Thursday posts!

Barbie – so happy you and Jake are safely home. Driving will get easier the more you do it.

Linda – actually you are off so enjoy the weekend. Good luck with your carpel tunnel surgery.

DeeDee- 20 push-ups is awesome. I’m impressed with the plank also because they are so hard. You’re doing great.

Phyllis in Cairo – it is so nice that you’ve joined our international group of women 50+. DH and I visited Egypt last spring so I can relate to where you are. DH is now working on a video of our visit and happens to be working on Cairo right now.

Laura in CO. Did you get the snow? MY DGS was suppose to play lacrosse today but I don’t know if it’s outside. The good thing about CO is it melts away so quickly.

Jodios – enjoy having your kids home for spring break. Hope you get some good weather. Husbands don’t have a clue when it comes to weight loss.

M- so glad you’re going to CO to see your Mom. What fun to be able to go to lunch with the other Co girls. We’re here to listen so if you want to complain about hot flashes, we’ll listen!

Texasgal – thanks for the picture. That is the cutest thing. I noticed the k on the front for Kashton. You’re right about the heat but aren’t you tired of the wind?

Jane in Co – no I have dry macular degeneration. They do have a laser treatment for the wet kind. Is you dad taking the vitamins? There is a website called Macular Degeneration Foundation. That’s where I found the AREDS study that I participated in for 6 years.

Robin – you are sick! Do you have any chicken soup? Hot lemonade is good for your throat. Take care of you.

Welcome to Esther – there are a lot of ladies from Oregon.

Amanda – your post took me back to the time when we were stationed at Weathersfield (Essex County)and I had to take the English driving test. I had just had a baby and the tester was worried I wouldn’t get home in time to feed her. (He didn’t knowI wasn’t nursing her). Anyway, I passed on the first try.

OK, I made it to Saturday morning so I’m going to post now and get dinner ready. Hopefully, I can come back later and finish reading.

    My goals for March are:
    1. Get 5+ F/V a day
    2. Make one new recipe a week
    3. Begin a weight training program

:grumble: Wizzywig I hate those auto updates--they are always at inopportune times. And if I shut them off, I'm so unorganized and rushed that I'd never do them.

Well, I ran 4.5 miles this morning before hitting the road at 8:30 for a 1.5 hour trip to an art workshop. I picked up such good lunch provisions at whole foods yesterday for today's lunch...also packed a grapefruit and pear, along with my fiestaware fork...put it all in my favorite lunch cooler bag.

I was so into painting that I didn't stop for lunch. It wasn't until I hit about the 40 mile mark coming home I realized I forgot the bag there. All because I am an unorganized mess! I had my paintings, back board, utility bag, paint box and freaking pocketbook...now I'm out a great bag and fork.

Honestly, I have improved so many areas of my life but I don't think I EVER will be organized or neat.

Edit: and now I'm even more irked. I have an 8 mile hike tomorrow with my "oldest bestest" friend. I always drive. I have a lot of art stuff and basically a lot of stuff in my SUV. I usually just toss it in the backseat or trunk area. She went and invited two other mutual friends who are NOT hikers, which means I have to clean out the backseat area for them, PLUS we'll probably have to go much slower. It's like I'm hiking with a platoon now. If I wanted to hike with a platoon, I'd have joined the damn army. And they'll be here at 8 a.m. AND I have to lug the stuff up 14 floors.

    Rant over.

    Mess still here.

Renny - I'm glad someone is taking at least part of the blame for your fiasco. Now for the rest. I don't blame you one bit for giving the MD a time limit. Otherwise, it would probably drag on and on and on.

Jean - welcome. It's ALWAYS OK to join. Looking forward to getting to know you better

jmklmpmm - that's wonderful that your mom has a fridge. You know, having it she'll have access to snacks lots, just be sure she doesn't have too much

Did about 50 minutes of yoga today. The instructor had to leave early. Stopped at Big Lots and got one stool for our kitchen. See, if you have 10 purchases of at least $20, you get 20% off your next purchase. Each stool is like $35, so I'll get one/day. I'm usually up that way anyway. Then stopped at Bi-Lo because I didn't remember that I had celery and I know they have organic celery so I got that, some spinach, and grapefruit. Came home, then went bowling, then to Aldi's to get more mushrooms, on the way home stopped at Bed Bath & Beyond because the egg slicer Vince got me for Christmas really broke (well, I WAS using it on mushrooms, but I used my old Kitchen Aid one on mushrooms and didn't have a problem), came home and made some Tuscan Vegetable Soup, broiled the mushrooms (I broke the egg slicer they exchanged so I just cut up the rest of the mushrooms), got dinner plated and in the fridge. Now I have to get ready for church (I'm serving).

Tomorrow I think I'll do some more balance games on the Wii. I really need work on my balance lately.

    Ester - welcome!

christschild - that is so nice of you to send a card! Congrats on the weight loss. And welcome!

ohiomom - have fun in TX

Phyllis - citrus fruits are in season here, too. Not strawberries yet, tho

Linda - I hate to fall behind, too. Good for you continuing to lose and keeping those blood sugars good.

grandmalle - how I can relate. Denise is with the guy who we're 99.99% sure severly abused Lexi. His mother cosigned for an apt, then they skipped out and she owed $2,000, then she cosigned for ANOTHER one. I'm certain it's because she doesn't want her son in the house, her second husbnad threw her son out of the house while we were still in PA. The hard thing is that Denise could have so much, but she's not being forced to grown up and get on her own, the mother is always there. Long story, I don't want to bore you, but know that I know your feelings of helplessness. You have no idea (no, you probably do) how many times when she's sick I just want to move her down here and take care of her myself. Do you need to watch your protein intake? Is there something else, I can't remember, is it potassium? I'm so so sorry for that call. It was nice of you to do it, but I can hardly imagine how much it hurt, especially when you hung up.

Robin - sure hope you're better. Sending virtual chicken soup

katla - loved the "voodoo donut" stop...that really cracked me up . I thought you were kidding about the name, but, hey, is that the place's real name???

Eileen in San Diego - isn't it amazing how fast the pounds go on and how slow they come off? ?That never ceases to amaze me. Prayers for your mom and dad. I know you'll make the right decision.

We turn the clocks back tomorrow
yea yea yea <doing a real happy dance>

Candy from NC - very nice goals.

moxie - I'm like you, I don't really do a "spring cleaning", I do it all during the year, too.

jane in CO - a massage sounds yummy. You deserve it, too, after all that shoveling.

Happy mother's day to everyone who will be celebrating tomorrow. I didn't realize that it was tomorrow for you

Meg - I do hope that Benny continues to do well and that him being well now isn't the calm before the storm. How does your game night work? Does everyone play one game or do different people play different games? What about timing?

I hear ya about the way our parents complain about how much things cost. I remember that once I bought my father a coat. He wanted me to go to KMart and get a cheap one. I wanted him to have something good. So I went to the store, bought him a good coat and then told him it was on sale (it really wasn't), so he'd accept the coat. He would never in a million years have accepted it at the price it was.

Gail - you went uphill on the TM? What incline? I haven't done incline intervals in so long, I did them yesterday and now my shins are feeling it. I can't wait for the farmer's markets to open up! Vince and I have been married 35 years. Last year he bought me an anniversary card and I got him one. We got each other the exact same card!!!! Different stores, but we got the same card!!!! The kids just laughed and said "you've been married too long"

Jackie - running 4.5 miles!!!! Wow is all I can say. Good for you packing your snacks. That's the way to do it. So sorry you lost your bag and fork. Rant away. I hear ya.

Lynn - I was starting to wonder where you were

    Kathy - great loss

Going to post this to mark my spot. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Does anyone have thoughts about the idea of being afraid to succeed? I used to hear that all the time on ediets.com and thought it was baloney. But now I’m wondering. I have no excuses for why I sometimes fall off the wagon or don’t log, don’t exercise, etc and it’s usually right after I post a loss. So it has me wondering.

I have a number of thoughts on fear of success. The first is a question: Do people fear change? My hypothesis is that they do fear change, even what most folks would consider positive change. As a teacher I had some eighth grade students whose parents wanted them to be true to the old ways. They wanted their daughters to quit worrying about grades and get a boyfriend to help support the family--at 14 years old. They feared losing their children to a new culture. I told my students to imagine the future they wanted for themselves and work for it. One of these girls came back years later and told us she was enrolled in Job Corps to reach the future she wanted for herself. That conversation is one I treasure. On a personal level, I lost a lot of weight after my second baby was born. People, especially men, started treating me differently and I became flustered and uncomfortable because I didn't know how to act. Returning to family eating habits played the biggest role in my regaining the weight over time, but this discomfort played a part in it, too. This time around, people are starting to notice my weight loss, and I'm not uncomfortable at all. I have more self-confidence now, and their compliments are not "come-ons." (I'm 63, for goodness sake.) So, I do think some people fear success because I they fear change. I also think some people get discouraged because loved ones sabotage their efforts at change. I hope this provides some food for thought.

I need to go back and read where I left off,so I can catch up with everyone!

Saw my ortho Md and he said that as soon as I get to a reasonable weight, then he will do my right knee replacement!

Oh my, now I am really excited to lose weight now! Ugh! I have to remember that this will take care of the pain and lack of mobility issues, but to have to go through that pain again.............this I am not looking forward to.

Hope everyone, will have a blessed Sunday!:flowerforyou:

  • Hi my VitF friends! Happy Mothering Sunday!

I think in the USA you celebrate in May, but in the UK it is not a fixed date but the second Sunday in Lent.

I am lucky enough to have my DD #1 nearby so she has invited us to lunch. I just love our family meals! So get time to spend with DSIL and 3 GC too. DD#2 lives 180 miles away but will be seeing her + family on Skype.

Luckily DD #1 follows the same healthy eating plan as me so it will be stress free. I am making the pudding - luxury chocolate log with raspberries - only works out a 111 calories. So looking forward to it as she is a good cook!

 Barbie -So agree with you about seeing the joy of nature as Spring approaches. DH and I walked to the beach yesterday. The tide was in and watching the waves just brings peace and calm into our lives.

 Lin - sorry about your dad. It is so difficult to watch as our parents grow older.

 Renny - so true about sodium in processed food. That's why I like to cook fresh.

 Meg- that frightened to succeed is a difficult one. Sometimes I think we hide behind a facade and don't always see what others see. Sometimes it is easier to be the large funny lady , rather than slim and elegant as you have to receive compliments! How many of us really accept a compliment gracefully. You made me think because I realise I usually reply with a put down to myself. Recently a friend complimented me in my skinny jeans and said how slim I looked. Instead of saying thank you I replied that it was the cut of the jeans. I think I might have a good rethink because of what you said. Thank you!
Oh yes and our family game night game is Rumikub!

 Grandmallie - your story is so sad and my heart goes out to you. It is as you say a timely reminder that life is precious.

 Gardengail - love the story of the spanx - mine went back too! Such a passion killer. Lol

 Suebdew- yes the shred is working well on the batwings! I have a lot of wasted muscle on my left arm since I broke my left wrist. Just feel I am being proactive on my recovery. Think I will be on level 1 for a long time!

 Kate - sorry you woke up in your 100 year old body - hate those days! In contrast my DH walked in when I was doing a body test on the Wii when it announced my age as 29 years. He should be so lucky! Lol

 Sundanceb: Good luck with your knees. As a word if encouragement it definitely will help your knees - mine are so improved someone thought I had had surgery!

Well I must go as there is cooking to be done.

Wherever you are in the world, have a good day. It's a new fresh page and you are worth it!

    Keep smiling and be positive

    Good morning beautiful ladies:flowerforyou:

7am already:noway: , I`m missing that hour I lost sometime last night already:laugh: ! However I am happy to have another hour of daylight:bigsmile: :glasses: !!! Just means I have less time on the computer though:cry: !

I have a funny story to share...I decided to do some situps yesterday, so got my mat and got on the floor and my sweet little 13 pound doggie jumps right on top me:noway: , I move her and she jumped right back on me:angry: , so I did situps with a doggie sitting on my stomach, does that count as doing situps with weights?

I have to get myself ready to put on my tiara and boss the boys this morning, I`m looking forward to it today:devil: !

Have a great day ladies!!! Drink your water:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: and log your food!

DeeDee- Your story made me laugh! It reminded me of all the leg lifts I did with a 1- or 2-year old hanging off my leg when my children were young! My dog and cat also "help" me exercise. The dog I can get to go lay down. The cat not so much.. By the way, my cat weighs more than your dog! Great job on sticking with the training. It sounds fantastic! Enjoy wearing your tiara!!

I had a bad night for sleep last night. We went out to eat last night and the food was definitely higher in fat than I usually eat. My stomach hurt all night long. I had oatmeal for breakfast, but think I will stick to fruits and veggies- and lots of water- for the rest of the day.

My DH is coming home for a few days at the end of this week. I am really looking forward to spending some time with her! She is also on a journey to a healthier life and is making good progress. I am going to see what I can learn from her!!

I need to get to work! We are in the process of painting my soon to be office/sewing room. All that is left is to paint the trim and the old desk I am putting in there. Hoping to finish it today. I have to be able to get everything out of the guest room so that DH has a place to sleep! Of course I also have the rest of the housework and schoolwork to finish as well. Somewhere in there I also need to do 30 ds and a long, brisk walk.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning all. Happy Sunday & first day of daylight savings time.

I thought I caught up on all the posts then realized it had been continued and there were 2 more pages. Wow, a lot has gone on over the last week.

Congrats to all who had victories of any kind.

I'm so sorry to all who had challenges of any kind.

    Welcome to all new posters.

So, yesterday I went to the Saint Patricks day parade in Seaside Heights. Had a great time with my 2 DD's, DSIL, 2 DGS's and assorted friends. With that said, my heart aches every time I head down that way, as my beloved Jersey Shore will never be the same. DAMN YOU HURRICANE SANDY!!!!! Progress is slowly being made but the devastation is still unbelievable even 4 months later. And yes, the JET STAR (roller coaster) is still sitting in the ocean. Plans are underway for the removal.

Ok, enough about that. I finally got the Eat To Live book from the library, no way can I follow that way of eating on a permanent basis, but it certainly made me think about some of the stuff I am eating. I will definitly use it as a guide. My Sunday morning grocery shopping basket had a LOT less processed food in it. And, I think it will help me with my cooking for one issues. It will be so much easier to just grab some fruit, veggies or nuts on the run if I don't have time to actually prepare a meal.

Well, time to get ready for work, I hope you all have agreat day.

    Morning Ladies~
This daylight savings time is kickin my butt~~~ woke up at 6 and now im ready to go back to bed... I have so much to do and my heel is downright unbearable today,Standing is excruciating.. So I am lying on my bed with the laptop on my lap and Homer lying on my lower legs.
I went grocery shopping this morning, and was amazed at what I put in the grocery cart, I freakin amazed myself:noway:
I bought a bag of multi colored sweet pepper's,and cut up veggies to steam, and portabello mushrooms, and I did by myself some 2% land o lakes cheese and rosemary ham that I will have in a wrap. I tried the fat free cheese and it's is :frown:
but bought alot of healthy stuff, It is just amazing what a couple of months of mindful eating can do to your mindset:wink:
I will rest for a little bit, but then I am up and getting stuff together for the week. have a pot roast in the crock pot and have to make stuff for the DH for dinner's and lunches next week.
I broke down and took a naproxen for my foot, cant handle the pain today.. cant wait for that book to arrive.

 Warning! some quotes coming up that resonate with me, so I thought I would share them.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy."
    ~William Hutchinson Murray

"I've been told by close friends that this is the area I have developed discipline. Much of my success comes from my willingness to make mistakes and adjust from the feedback I get from those mistakes. Were it not for my commitment I would not have made those mistakes. Were it not for those mistakes I would have not been able to make the necessary adjustments to gain the fruition of success. Does that make sense? What do you need to commit to?"
~Darren LaCroix, World Champion of Public Speaking

:flowerforyou: I will be shoe shopping today with DD. She needs a new pair of flats for a wedding. We love hanging out together, so that won't be a problem, now will it

:flowerforyou: LuAnn - I have the book ETL. It has been a great tool to educate me on the value of fruits and veggies. The longer I eat along those lines, the more attractive it is becoming for me. Although I have not fully embraced it, and eat dairy and eggs. It certainly kick started my weight loss and fitness, after being in a funk for a couple of years.

:flowerforyou: Deb A from CNY - I have the same when eating a high fat meal. So good to go back to lean eating and drinking water! Let your system recover.

:flowerforyou: DeeDee - that exercise should count double!!! Love the way you tell the story about the doggy giving you an extra work-out.

:flowerforyou: Kate - that is such a yucky feeling  Hope things are better today. Let us know how we can go about encouraging you. I noticed you quote on your profile page: "Regain the music!" What kind of music do you like? The lot of us could start singing for you:♫♪tada lalala♫♪yahoo♫ and how are you♫♪ Or: What a feeling♫...Flashdance, here we come!

♫First, when there's nothing but a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide deep inside your mind
All alone I have cried silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel, made of stone
Well I hear the music, close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart

    [Chorus:]
    What a feeling, bein's believin'
I can't have it all, now I'm dancin' for my life
Take your passion, and make it happen
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life

Now I hear the music, close my eyes, I am rhythm
In a flash it takes hold of my heart♫

DeeDee: Sit-ups with a dog on your chest definitely counts as weights.

Linda aka Sundance: I started this weight loss journey because of sore knees. I tried to figure out why I had so much knee pain by researching on the internet. I kept meeting up with the phrase, ”a common problem in overweight women.” That was my “aha” and motivation to start losing weight. At this point my knees feel a great deal better and I can do many things that I had given up as too painful. I hope that you have good success and the luck to stave off the possibility of surgery.:flowerforyou:

Happy Day! Daylight time is back!!!:love:  I love the longer period of light at the end of the day. This was even more true before I retired when I spent all the daylight hours indoors working.:frown: Yesterday we spent a good part of the afternoon at Saturday Market in Portland. I haven’t seen a crowd that big in a long time.:noway: Saturday Market is open from the first Saturday in March until Christmas Eve, and combining the new season with great weather made it a favorite destination for a LOT of people yesterday.   My daughter met several long-time friends and some cousins on the lawn north of the Market stalls, and we joined them. It was good to see some of her old friends all grown up.

Have a great Spring Ahead Day.

Hello to everyone, it feels like years since I've been here (well, the amount of pages since I've visited are daunting). I think I'll just pop in and post and not try to go back to the previous thread and catch up.

I too like the daylight savings time at the end of the day, but I kind of miss the morning light. Today will be a day to go out and clean the parts of the lawn that are clear of snow. I actually see some crocus (crocii??) peaking through the mulch so I will have to pull that off as much as I can. Yesterday was the Youth Bowling Banquet and I had to go and represent the Village corporate body and fly the flag so to speak. Then I took the dogs for a nice long trip and ramble just to make up for being away so long. The sunshine was lovely here yesterday, today it's a little dull but not cloudy.

The good news is that I am now a permanent size 8 and even a 6 in some vanity sizing items. The bad news is I really really need to tighten up what is left. And maybe the cosmos is trying to tell me something - our book club pick this month is "Younger Next Year for Women" which I just started last night. And after reading about 50 pages, they still haven't actually started the book, just talking about how great they are and what they have done and how I'm going to love what's coming. For pity's sake, just get on with the darned book!!!!! I sincerely hope it gets better because I've got to plough through it.

I don't think I'm particularly overweight anymore, just a little "padded" (hah, a rose by any other name...) Back to the drawing board and back in the saddle and any other old trite metaphor I can think of. 10 more pounds should do it.

So glad to see all of the losses and victories, and those with challenges, keep on keepin' on because it will eventually work, you just have to figure out what works for you (see Dee Dee and Linda Sundance's wonderful examples). And I love that there are some women who are illustrating the maintenance part so well (Amanda and Barbie take a bow please but there are others too). I am grateful for the community of women here that are so supportive. I checked in on a couple of other threads and frankly, some of them are scary and nasty people abound on them.

Off to the laundry room and then outside to do yard cleaning, Will check in later to see what is going on with all you chatty ladies.

Happy Mothering Day to my VitFs in the UK. How about Aussies? Is it the same day for you?
Cold and windy here today so no outside activity going to happen.

Eileen - sending prayer to you for your parents. Hope your Mom gets better soon.
Janie-I'm so sorry you're having to deal with so much pain. My friend is in the same situation, needs to lose the weight before surgery on knees but can't exercise to help with the weight loss. Sometimes it feels impossible but if you break it down into manageable parts, you'll begin to see some hope. I'm cheering for you.
Candy in NC - I totally agree with you about the elliptical. Anyone who does that is my hero. Baby steps....
Jo- Enjoy your family day. Love to have to recipe for the chocolate, raspberry log that is low calorie. I'm excited that the shred is helping with the bat wings. Mine are so bad but I must admit since I've lost a little weight they aren't as bad. Will definitely get back to the shred. I'm impressed with the jumping jacks also. You go girl!
LuAnn in Jersey - I can relate to your feeling after hurricane Sandy. My hometown was washed away in Katrina. Literally, gone. Homes that had been on the coast for hundreds of years just washed away. It really irritated me when people said, "well, they shouldn't be living on the coast anyway"
Got to get my exercise video in. Told myself I wouldn't get on computer until it was done but couldn't resist. Have a blessed Sunday.

Happy Mother's Day from the UK!

My card from my son (who is away at uni) says 'hope you fill your day with things you enjoy' - well I have spent all day with the Duke of Edinburgh group - this morning I was manning the office at the youth centre in case of emergencies with the navigation training happening on the Chase. I spent 2 and a half hours knitting! The phone didn't ring so no emergencies.

This afternoon I walked 5.5 miles with the dogs, in the snow, with another group on navigation training across the Chase, teaching map reading and how to take compass bearings - we saw a whole herd of deer of all ages, while another volunteer was manning the phone. I do love taking time out to encourage the young people who want to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh's award, which is such a good award for them to do. My daughter is now working towards her Gold Award.

So knitting, time with some great teenagers, and walking the dogs in an area I love and the bonus of seeing around 30 wild deer - yes, I think I have filled the day with things I enjoy (even with sore feet!). This evening I will be watching Crufts (dog show) on TV - which is another of my annual must sees! It's about to start - so I'll say - Happy Mother's Day to one and all and enjoy your day. For those of you fighting the daylight savings time tiredness, try this next spring...............let my husband come over and set all your clocks..............BACK! He teaches Sunday School, guess they didn't have a teacher today.

Sorry to hear that some of you are having to deal with the health issues of loved ones. Been there, and it's not easy. Between my husband and I we only have my mom left. The others all went on to be with the Lord after long battles. Even when you are "prepared" you aren't. The pain ebbs but the hole is there forever.

Today is our daughters 26th birthday and it is tradition here that as the birthday person, you get to set the menu. I am trying to lighten up the main course (poppy seed chicken) that she picked, plus broccoli, sweet potatoes, and a greek salad. The killer is the peanut butter cake! Over 500 cal PER SLICE!! Anything that is left of that cake is going home with her!!!!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

Us women deserve 2 Mother's Days!!!! Wish we could have more than that. But with a husband like mine even the one isn't celebrated. :grumble:

I am one of those people that like to weigh everyday. I don't record it here but I am pretty close to weighing the same as my husband. He eats anything he wants, walks about 1 1/2 miles a day and he stays OK. He is still slightly overweight but OK. Maybe when I pass him he will be a little more serious. He is eating my breakfast sandwiches now instead of eating a huge bowl of cereal with an even huger amount of sugar. He also enjoys my 100 calorie 3 ounce cups of ice cream.

Have a good day everyone
