Calorie Burn Difference - HRM / Treadmill - Help!

So this weekend I took my HRM to the local gym.. I ran on the treadmill for 45minutes , and so the HRM BPM and Treadmill BPM were always the same I noticed so that was good.. However when I was done my workout I noticed the treadmill burn calories were a lot lower than my HRM.. Which one is more accurate?? I put my age/weight in the treadmill so I'm not sure why both the treadmill and the HRM would be off.. Any ideas? Do I need to adjust my MAX BPM on my HRM? Any feedback would be great!.. Thanks!

Your HRM is definitely more accurate. The treadmill does not know how tall you are or your sex.0

If the TM calories are lower than your HRM then your HRM is really off. Unless you hold on to the handrails, treadmill calorie counts are very accurate for walking and a little high for running--off by 15% or so. Since treadmills measure your actual aerobic workload, they are inherently more accurate. And because they measure actual workload, they don't need heart rate--just body weight. So the heart rate on the TM is just for display. It is not used for calorie calculations.0
