Is it just me..?

I used to be a terribly chronic finger nail biter. As most people..
but coming of my bad foods etc, my nails are like.. super rock hard! They used to be weak!
Is this a health thing? ( Also.. don't worry. I do not bite anymore :P )

  • I can imagine it actually being a subconscious stress thing (for the reason you were biting them)
If you were stressed about your weight / how you looked, you probably wanted to bite them more!
Plus, stress makes everything in your body less weak. Your mind, your muscles, your appearance...

Stress aside, the fact that you're more healthy through walking / cardio to me sounds like a good reason for healthy nail growth!

I think it's one of the B Vitamins that help with nails / hair so maybe that could be it? x

Congratulations on having stronger nails

I creeped your diary to see if you was eating lots of calcium rich foods and you are well under eating...to the point of being really ill/unhealthy. So maybe your stress levels are down?

As you did not invite me to look at your diary I will leave it at that

Weak nails are a sign of lacking nutrition(I believe, not 100%) so actually having stronger nails is good.

I know that I used to be able to flake off my nails in layers, until I started eating better.

I used to bite my nails bad. I used to do it without thinking. Since I have been eating better my nails are much stronger!

Yay for vitamins and minerals from REAL food :)

it's absolutely a health thing. your diet was probably nutrient-deficient before, and now you're getting the nutrients, thus your hair, nails, etc are all much stronger.

this is the importance of micronutrition.

So glad to hear you no longer bite. Must mean you are getting what you need.

Took a look at your diary to see if you were eating a nice healthy diet but....no.
So no idea why your nails should have improved. Maybe the fact that you have stopped biting them has helped.

my nails use to break all the time. now i have to file them down because they'll actually grow. whenever i stopped caring about my dieting and stuff they went back to being very brittle, definitely from the better nutrients (:

Is your diary a true reflection of your diet? Because if it is I doubt your new strong nails have anything to do with nutrition.

Yeah, don't think it's a "health thing" to be honest, if your diary is an accurate reflection of what you're eating.
