    Renny,

I'm glad your optometrist is at least covering the bad lens. It somehow doesn't seem to be enough, though. :grumble: She should send flowers or something to say she's sorry for your inconvenience. :ohwell: "Should" is a word that causes people so much trouble. :frown:

You deserve flowers.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

linder4866 and megblair1, Thank you again for throwing me a lifeline and reeling me in! lol
Grandmallie, I pray for peace for both you and your Dear friend (( HUGS ))
To everyone else it was enjoyable reading all your posts. I’m so Grateful to be a part of this group!
Well it took some time but I got caught up on reading all the posts .
Day light savings time, a busy weekend with my Granddaughter and too much walking and jogging has left me with shin splints and a sore ankle, but I walked today anyways. Sad to say my time was off, could only do 2.5 mph instead of 3mph. I’m calling it a night.

Jen - tell us how things go with that metabolism diet. I'm not quite positive of this, but FOR ME it seems that on the days when I have a high protein content, I don't lose much if at all. So I'll be interested in what your findings are. Since you're buying new hardware for your cabinets, you might want to buy some extras, too. things get discontinued so fast, and if after 5 years or so one breaks, at least you'll have a spare.

Gail - what a lovely ring bearers pillow that would be!

jmkmomm - I believe jb has a low fat cornbread muffin recipe which is quite good. I sometimes make my muffins in a mini-muffin pan if you can't find one for a mug. This way you aren't getting a whole lot. Yes, cornbread muffins freeze well (I know from experience). I'll keep an eye out if someone doesn't post the recipe. And if I forget, don't have a hesitation about reminding me

katla - I'm in the same boat you are...no siblings. It's a problem, but it can also be a blessing. When my father passed away, everything went to me, there wasn't any problem with dividing up his estate. Vince is an only child, too.

Did about 20 minutes of the pilates DVD. It's interesting...never did pilates with a band. Good workout. Never did a side plank with the band, either. Then took the extremepump class.

I'm not happy with the sourcream blueberry cake that I made, so I'll make these snickerdoodles today. Hope they turn out OK. If not, then I'll make blueberry muffins because I know that recipe is fine. The thing that makes these snickerdoodles different is that it contains white beans in it. I tried one at one of the healthy cooking demos and you couldn't taste the white beans in it. I figure that's something that I can give away. Also, we're having bunco here next week so I can freeze them and have them also for bunco. Then I'm going to stop and get one more of the stools for the kitchen because I need to go to the store near there to get the white beans.

cranium - I don't remember Bob Dylan saying that. But what a great quote!

Viv - I know Vince wishes we could get fiber optic. You're so lucky to be able. They brought fiber optic to our area in Kennett Square right before we moved so it really wasn't worth it for us to pay to upgrade for only a few months

Linda!!! - I was beginning to wonder about you! Glad to see ya

After the extreme pump class I went and picked up another stool for the kitchen (which has to be returned) and got some beans. Then I came home and made these snickerdoodles. They were quite good when I had them. You add the beans to them! I thought the recipe might make more but it didn't so I went and got some blueberries and made blueberry muffins for the guy at the Y whose birthday is Thurs. I'll be going there tomorrow so I'll take them. I have never in my life had a muffin liner that stuck to the pan. Never! Oh well, I wasn't crazy about the sourcream blueberry cake and now I'm stuck wondering why those muffin liners stuck to the pan. Well, I'll give them to him anyway. They just don't look all that great, that's all.

I have this kink in my neck. I think I neeed a massagae. The place that I went to before must not be there any more because I got a message that the number had been disconnected. I know I went to another lady, but she has such a long lead time and I can't wait that long. I think the last time I went I had to wait 2 or 3 months before she could see me. I only went because I got a certificate for a free massage.

Lucy in DE - how horrible, vertigo. I hate when that happens. Where in PA is your daughter moving to? I hear ya about how far away it is. But at least she's on the same continent as you, so look at the positive, and you can see her more than once every few years (thanks for letting ME vent)

Jane in CO - we didn't get the mushroom stool and table. Vince didn't like them, plus the top of the table wasn't bolted to the base (and there was no way to bolt it on) so we didn't get it. I thought it was so cute, tho.

From Livestrong: Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live

Robin - so sorry about your ear. Hope you get relief later today. I like how you looked at the bright side -- you didn't see HER. Actually, if you did, the way you are feeling, it probably would have been hard to not explode. So good for you!

Phyllis - boy, were you moving!

grandmalle - have a great time with your "girls". Where are you going on your cruise, and for how long?

Meg - when my sinuses act up to the point where my teeth hurt, I usually take a decongestant, that helps some. Bad part is that it really dries me out, good part is that I'll drink way more water than usual.

Just came back from mahjongg. I only maj'd once, but I was real real close a few times.

Jen - those calls from the kids are nerve wracking, to say the least. I'm glad you're looking on the bright side, that he isn't deployed.

You know, I'm a member of pinterest but to be honest, I don't know how to use it! It sounds like there are so many interesting things on it, wish I could figure out how to use it. Maybe someone can help me????????

Renny - sending you a virtual bouquet. I'm glad the MD is covering at least the one lense

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Hi all – Monday and I didn’t achieve anything on my list. Oh well, it will still be there tomorrow. And tomorrow I will have a new do – I have decided to “soften the edges” as they recommend for “ladies of a certain age” and have clipped some hair ideas for my hairdresser to look at tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for ne friends – I’ve had the same hairstyle for a long, long time. If it’s not dreadful, I’ll post a new profile photo. If it is dreadful, I’ll pretend it didn’t happen and avoid cameras until it grows back – lol.

Barbie – thanks for the encouragement to keep on reading YNY for Women. I have another day to plough through it and I hope it picks up. Sounds like you are in the “hurry up and wait” syndrome with the specialist.

Meg – being a “woman to be taken seriously” may be why you don’t take compliments well. I went to one of those self-development courses once that required me to accept compliments without responding. I discovered that the immediate desire to deflect a compliment was part of my self-esteem reduction strategy (negative self-talk). I am happy to report (lol) that I have since then (12 years at least) been able to smile confidently and say thank you without needing to qualify anything. That was probably the best thing I got for my $500 dollars.
You’re intelligent, you’re accomplished, just accept that some people admire you for various reasons, even very superficial ones at times, and roll with it.
Also, thanks for the compliment. I’m actually a very petite person under the chubs, I’m only 5”1” (and that’s pushing it) and pretty small boned. What? You have snow? OMG!!! Doesn’t Mother Nature know it’s spring?

LindaS – best wishes for the knee surgery. I don’t know anyone who regrets it and as you’ve already done one, you know what to expect. I can’t believe how much you do on the elliptical if you have a knee problem – amazing commitment lady!

Jo – I always loved the “Mothering Sunday” name. It sounds more elegant than “Mothers’ Day” although I’m sure the loving sentiments are the same no matter the continent.

DeeDee – maybe I should get Rex or Evie to sit on me – 55 – 60 pounds should just melt off the fat – lol.

Meylisa - love your profile photo, it just looks so refreshing!

    Janie – you look great!

Renny – I’m afraid to write down childhood stories – I’ve discovered that my sister has totally different memories and I don’t really want to find out who is correct (or where the other memories are from – lol). I haven’t checked in on the F&V challenge for a bit, but I think of you and add veggies or fruit at every opportunity. I think you have made a lasting impression on my eating habits.

Liz – I also do the cleaning all through the year but for some reason need to do the Spring cleaning as well as at Christmas and September (even though I don’t have anyone starting school anymore).

JaneH – that 200’ of shoveling is a lot of calories burned!! Hope your Mexico surprise vacation was great. Netherlands (and Belgium) was terrific and I walked some weight off as well.

Robin – sounds like you have been heard and that they understand that there is a need for separation that isn’t your issue. Hang in there. Someone is listening and recognizing there is a problem and it might not be yours!

Time to go make some dinner and read some more of the book for the book club tomorrow night. I think I’m going to have to speed read because a lot of it so far is repetitious. Wish me luck and I hope I learn something from this (and yes, I know I need to exercise more).

Glad to find out I wasn’t the only one who got ‘lost’ and thank you to Jo for redirecting me  Barbie – love your post about control – now I have to decide if I’m an abstainer or moderator ☺ Well, I was able to get in around 10 miles this weekend – 3.5 hike Friday in the sun – woo whoo! Almost 4 on the elliptical on Saturday, and 3.5 on the treadmill Sunday! I actually jogged (really sloowwwly) for about 20 minutes of my treadmill time too – I may be able to do that 5K in July after all!
Katia – my brother lives in Portland and when we were visiting we visted Voodoo too – sinfully delicious!
Eileen – Prayers to your family
Phyllis in Cairo – I thought you were in Cairo, IL – a sleepy little town in the southern end of Illinois, not Egypt! How interesting – can I ask what brought you to Egypt?
Grandmaille – the situation with your daughter sounds tough – so hard to have them far away when they are in a difficult situation – hopefully she will see the light and get out of that relationship
Jean – good luck to you on your journey – I’m sure you can do it!
    Happy Tuesday All! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Regarding PB2 – you can find it here www.bellplantation.com/ or here www.amazon.com/grocery it is sometimes hard to find in stores! It is a great addition to shakes and to use in baking

    Hi

:noway: I started to write a post last night, but not sure what happened - think I must have got distracted or something and hadn't posted it after all.

 Engineer from BT came yesterday and we now have fiber optic broadband which is supposed to be faster. It did seem a little faster this morning, so hopefully I'll be able to post most mornings before work.

:flowerforyou: Someone mentioned getting up at 5am and still not having enough time. That's me too! Up and out walking the dog before 5.30 and then still don't have enough time. I need to organise myself my time better on a morning, I used to be able to fit in some exercise, but that stopped when I felt unwell for a few days. :embarassed: I give up too easily that's my trouble.

 Yesterday it was snowing but it wasn't too bad so I went into town with my mum and bought a cardigan on sale which was good, I love a bargain! Came home and washed the hallway walls ready for painting. I washed them with sugar soap, I can't believe how much better they looked once they'd had a good clean ( almost don't need to paint them now   ) it gave me a good workout climbing up and down the ladder. I couldn't manage the ceiling though even with the step ladder it was still too high. I'm a bit scared of heights so can't get to the top rung - I'll have to get a mop and wash the ceiling that way.

Hubby has just finished laying laminate flooring in the dining room and it's looking good. Now for the rest of the house. It hasn't been painted in a while and once you start it's a bit like painting the Forth Bridge. (only people in the UK will get that)

Well time to get breakfast and do pack ups etc.

Have a good day sorry not to reply individually but I am thinking of you all .

    Viv

Happy Monday for another 9 minutes!

Today seem to fly by and its almost midnight! I had a very nice weekend off and I can hardly remember what I did. The weather sunday and today was warm and sunny in the 70"s. Tomorrow I think it will be low 80's. In Southern Calif, we just from winter to summer and then to darn hot summer! Worked in the back yard yesterday. I love working in the garden, but we have a higher level with the fruit trees, that I cannot climb up to now. So, getting DH motivated to get the trees pruned, was a miracle!

I just had a friend talk about a site that calculated our daily calories, and mine are much lower than what this site says I should be having to lose weight. ************Check it out- scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/.******** I know that there is something to this as a few years ago when I did a weight loss challenge with a group of women at the Y, they were not losing weight, despite their killer exercise burns. The fitness trainer said they were not eating enough calories. They upped their calories and they all started losing weight. Anyway, will be another busy school week and my weekend to work!
So blessing to all of you how are going through tough times or in pain right now. Welcome to all the new ladies.
    Here's to a great healthy week!:drinker:
Big hug, Linda S aka Sundanceb:heart:

Grandmallie:flowerforyou: - Oh, sorry for the foot pain. Can you take motrin etc? It can help you to heal faster by not being in pain. Congrats on the 2lb loss!!!

Renny-:flowerforyou: thank you for this Until one is committed, there is hesitancy." Childhood stories, what a great idea!
~William Hutchinson Murray This is something to think about, ones commitment to getting healthy!

Katla:flowerforyou: - thank you for the words of hope and kindness. I think all the years standing as an RN did my knees in. I can still hope!

Lila:flowerforyou: , congrats on the size 8 or 6! You must be so proud of all of your hard work! Thank you for your kind words!

Sue:flowerforyou: - hope you got your Sunday exercise in!

LoriH-:flowerforyou: peanut butter cake,, on no that can not even come into this house!

Judy:flowerforyou: - that is crazy about those hot flashes. You might want to try some effexor ,or a few other antidepressants, as some of them can really help with the hot flashes.

Jackie:flowerforyou: –Cherry Hill- your hike sounds wonderful!

Robin, Bodi and Ritter:flowerforyou: - hope your feel much better today!

Barbie:flowerforyou: - love your description of your “rest” day!

Sue in SD:flowerforyou: - tell me what constant carbs is all about?

Je:flowerforyou: - glad to see you back! Lots of vitamin F here, that I cant live without! Glad your DS is ok!

Janie:flowerforyou: - so glad that you are getting back into the swing of being back at school! Those students are lucky to have you as their teacher!

Liz:flowerforyou: - I am trying to make my girls feel this way about cleaning, but one does and the other one makes the messes! What a great quality you have learned from your mother!

    Bjmcq-:flowerforyou: how fun laser tag!

Jb :flowerforyou: thank you for this:flowerforyou: "Every time you misstep on your healthy journey, you have two choices: to keep walking backwards, which will surely take you even further away from your goals; or to accept your lack of perfection as normal and forgivable, and take not one, but two positive steps down the path that brings your closer to the future you want.

Laura8011-:flowerforyou: Hi, glad you were able to peek in and keep us on our toes~

Jodios:flowerforyou: - you don’t look old enough to have a 20yo! You are taking good care of yourself, you look so young and radiant!

JaneM:flowerforyou: - hope your back is doing better this evening!

Lucy in Delaware:flowerforyou: - sending you positive thoughts! Just think how wonderful your visits will be when they come to visit you in the south!

Good morning ladies from a bitterly cold London town, but blue skies at present.

I didn't want to leave the house this morning! I can't believe how cold it is again. Where is spring??

Managed a good stomp when I did leave the house though, which is good because it looks like it's going to be a stressful day at work. I'm looking forward to tomorrow afternoon which I will be spending with the grandtwins. One thing is certain, between their lovely hugs and all the running around after that, I will certainly warm up!

Barbie - I too am an abstainer. If I have none, I won't want more - that applies to alcohol and so many foods that I know are just waiting to trip me up. I think I'm an all or nothing girl.

For now, it's back to work for me.

Have a good day you wonderful women!

    Love to all.

    Morning Ladies,
Tuesday am here ,did my foot and heel exercises, but grrrrrrrrrr the allergy thing is doing me in,I don't know what is wrong with me but am not up for the gym this morning, my eyes were all crusty when I woke up. I want to exercise and lose the weight but there always seems to be obstacles:grumble:
I do have some beginning yoga on my laptop, maybe I will give that a try ,anything to keep moving....
Thanks for the well wishes with my daughter and grandaughter,I have to accept what I cant change and just pray to God that he takes care of them.I don't want to get a call from the hospital saying that either of them were hurt by his hands.
After all the trouble we went through to bring our older car up here from florida for my DD,my DH will be driving it back down in a few weeks..We towed it up in a snowstorm after Christmas to give it to her, I have figured out ,that she is stalling and inwardly doesn't want her license, because then she would have the independence and have to make a decision about her life, and that is a scary thing for her.. I haven't talked to her about it, but she was going to go back to driver's ed for a refresher and instead with her tax money bought a new laptop and plane tickets out here for her friends wedding.
    So that tells me something,
She is out of luck with the car, Betsy is going back down into retirement:wink:
We will be going on an 8 day Carnival cruise out of Miami, Tortola,Antigua,St Thomas and Nassau, we are balcony snobs, we were upgraded to one on our first cruise and for the extra money we just love to sit out there and relax and watch the sea go by.
We are not big partier's so we don't go to all the stuff, we usually catch the shows, but no art auctions, and stuff like that. we enjoy the pools and the hot tubs on sea days and taking a nap when we want to:smile:
We also dont do the ship excersions because they are way to expensive,if we do stuff with our friends we get a taxi and go somewhere interesting.
I will behave food wise on the ship,I love all the fruit and veggies they have on the ship, and I dont know how I will do it without internet axcess but will log on my kindle my food every day. I also will be using the gym daily. you cant beat a gym with a view. well off to try my yoga. thank goodness only the dogs can see me:noway:

    Good morning beautiful ladies:flowerforyou:

Viv:smile: It was me, I seem to have no time in the mornings no matter how early I get up:angry: ! I`m trying to figure out how to change that!

Lila:smile: I`m thinking a 50 or 60 pound dog sitting on you would not be comfortable:noway:  . ! I hope things pick up with your book!

Barbie:smile: I find some things I can eat in moderation, others like popcorn:noway: , I don`t keep it in the house anymore!

LindaS:smile: Lucky you, 80 degrees...I`m so looking forward to that!!! What kind of fruit trees do you have?

Monet13:smile: Sounds like you had a great exercise weekend! Bet the hike was really nice!

Amanda:smile: Brrr..hope you manage to get warm! Have a great time with the grandtwins:love: !

I went shopping yesterday for my soon to be 12 yr.old granddaughter:love: , she gave up on the idea of an iPhone for her birthday, thank goodness for that. She gave me a list of things she wanted...art supplies, books, volleyball, CDs, gift card, not one stuffed animal or toy on the list:cry:. I also told her I would take her shopping for some clothes later this month. Barnes and Nobles was my favorite stop, got the books she wanted, the CDs, a few crafts for her, a few books for me (I just have to find time to read them), then to the sports store to get the volleyball, I got myself new bands, light and medium to contiune my exercise at home, they had t shirts on sale I got 3 for 18.00  . By the time I left the sports store I had a horrible headache, still went to the grocery store, didn`t get everything I needed, my head hurt so bad I couldn`t think and I forgot to make a list:blushing: , came home and took the dog out for a few minutes, took 3 Advil and crawled in my bed, slept for 2 hours:yawn: ! Still had that dreaded headache when I got up:sad: . I`m happy to say 3 more Advil before bed last night worked...no headache this morning!

Again it`s after 7am, got to get myself ready for an early moring appt.
Have a wonderful day ladies!!! Drink your water:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: and log your food!!!

    Hugs,
DeeDee in rainy:grumble: NC but clearing later this morning:happy:

Sundance - here is a link to info on the ETL book. I actually learned about it from someone on this thread ( sorry, I forget who it was). I got it from my library and it is very informative. I don't see myself following it to a T, but using it as a guide.

DeeDee:flowerforyou: - how fun Noel got to ride along as you exercised! Too cute!

Katla:flowerforyou: - thank you for the words of hope and kindness. I think all the years standing as an RN did my knees in. I can still hope!

Lila:flowerforyou: , congrats on the size 8 or 6! You must be so proud of all of your hard work! Thank you for your kind words!

Hi, Ladies! Im a newbie here. Loving this myfitnesspal.com app! Ive done weight watchers before so its easy to follow (I actually think its better than their program). Im doing this on my own this time. Having taken care of my father who died of prostate cancer and turning 50 (menopause!), Ive let myself get out of control. But Im working on it now!

Nice to meet you and ttyl!

Morning everyone. I woke up to a light dusting of snow, but the radio said we are warming up to the high 30's today and our town is under a flood warning. We have a river that goes through town. We are pretty far away and have only flooded badly (as in full basement replacement) once. Will spring ever get here?:grumble:

DD is sleeping in as usual. As I expected her friends are claiming more and more of her time. She is having a great break and is so much more relaxed, refreshed and light hearted vs. when she first arrived. I'm so happy for that. I'll be sending her back to school in great shape to face the rest of the semester.:heart:

I'm taking a rest day from exercise - I'm so sore. DH is also taking a rest day so maybe we'll treat the dogs to a nice long walk later.

Barbie - thanks for the explanation on abstainers vs. moderators and yes you were correct I'm definitely a moderator:flowerforyou:

Rori - my dogs like to get in the act when I exercise and especially when I do yoga. The little one (if you can call 45 lbs little), likes to crawl into my lap while I mediate. We are going to Honolulu for the first time this coming summer. Any suggestions on things to do or see? We've been to Maui and Kaui and have just loved it there - we hike, kayak, paddle board, surf badly, just about anything outside...it is paradise!:love:

Colo ladies - so jealous you are all getting together Friday...have a great time!:drinker:

Jen - so glad DS was not terribly hurt! I can't imagine getting that sort of call. Also very glad to hear he is in Calif. and not deployed:smile:

Renny - happy to hear you have at least partial satisfaction on the glasses mix-up...too bad Costco won't step up. Hope you had a blast at Zumba:wink:

Mary C - I read in Health magazine last night that when you get off track just doing one good thing (e.g. like a healthy breakfast or a brisk walk) can get you back on course. Love the quote about moving backwards vs. forward. You can't change the past but you can make the choice about what to do with this moment.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Lila - hope you get a great haircut...I love that sort of freshening up!

Linda S - thanks for the compliment  - see I'm taking Lila's advise and really meaning it!

Grandmallie - glad your DD & DGD are coming to visit. Enjoy your cruise! My DH gets motion sickness so cruises are not high on the vacation wish list

    Sally - are you a yoga teacher?

Well got to get to work. Everyone have a great day! Jodios:happy:

Happy Tuesday-good-news-day! Scale down, it's not raining, the cantaloupe I cut up this morning is actually quite good.

Katla, I'm under the impression that the "Pain Free" book would help just about anyone with pain problems. I'm not a doctor by any means. But in the book, Egoscue discusses "restoring proper design motion to the joints that are afflicted with chronic pain". When our bodies are out of alignment over time, pain follows. The book is all about strengthening weak areas and bringing our bodies back into balance. I highly suggest you take a look at it, it's full of easy-to-do exercises and stretches, plus invaluable information as to why we have chronic pain. It really opened my eyes.

Posture is so important. I'm always having to remind myself to sit up straight and pull my shoulder blades together. Here's something fun to try to remind ourselves of what it feels like to stand up perfectly erect: Stand against a wall with heels, shoulders and head all touching. Whoa! :noway: Now try walking around like that!

    Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for sharing the info JB, and congrats on your scale and your enjoyment of the melon! I downloaded the pain book on my ipad too...your discussions helped me find a new source of dealing with my issues too!

March is teasing us again, that old flrt, in with the warm for the last two days, now back to the cold with some strange snow flurries...

    Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Hello ladies, just stopping by again for a minute. I'm almost finished putting together my tax information. Yeah.

I'm off to visit my dad tomorrow in the nursing home if the weather forecast holds for no snow tomorrow. I stopped to get him a treat today and am packing up the new sweaters I got for him, a new spring wreath for his door, a St. Patrick's Day card, some lotion for his feet, and I'll stop by his house to pick up his red jacket. He loves red and I only have the green winter jacket there for him because the closet isn't that large but I'll get it for him and mush it in there somewhere!

As I've been changing what I eat since joining MFP, I found as it happens that I was moving close to what I found out was Dr. Fuhrman's idea of how to eat for better health. I'm actually more interested in his "Eat For Health" book than the "Eat to Live" book. Call me brain-washed, I don't care, but this is making sense to me. I am probably following his "salad is the main dish" protocol over 95%. I've finally given up dairy and coffee. Sugar and salt went a long time ago. And I'd been pretty much no meat for a long time (beef & pork went away more than a decade ago, I tried to eat chicken or fish once a week but have given that up as well). So it's not as radical a change for me.

I don't know if I'll succeed but I won't quit. I'm losing weight, I feel better, I'm off all meds except the synthroid I must take as my thyroid was totally removed some years ago. I'd like to kick this fibro to the curb as well. I've read through Dr. Fuhrman's forums and in response to people asking about fibromyalgia he has said a few people feel better within 6 months but many need 1 - 3 years eating as a nutritarian to feel better. I'm going for it---!!!

Best wishes to all my dear Vitamin F friends.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Feel awful today. I couldn't sleep last night so I got up and took an Ambien. Still couldn't sleep after several hours so decided that it was going to be a sleepless night. I knew I needed to be awake today so did something stupid. I had two bags of Cadbury mini eggs that i have been very very good at eating 12 of them every couple of days. So I ate both bags:noway: Well that didn't make me feel awake either. I finally got a couple of hours of sleep. I feel bloated, I know all the caffiene has made my blood pressure go up. My birthday was on the 3rd and my sister and i are going out to eat at Chick FIl A. last night I poured the nutritional data to have something that would be in my calories but still let me indulge some. But I hate to think how many calories I took in last night.

My Mom, sis and I used to have a tradition for our birthdays. The 3 of us would go out to this one particular place that had the most delicious coconut cream pie. So we would have lunch and pie. The birthday girl didn't have to pay for her meal. My Mom died 2 years ago yesterday so it's just the 2 of us. It's senseless for her to pay for mine on my birthday and me pay for hers on her birthday so we just go out. We no longer go to that same place anymore. It's just to far out. So today we will go out to the cemetary. When Mom was alive we used to go out for Dad's birthday, wedding anniversary, Chritsmas, etc. No we go out about twice a year. I feel Mom would be dissapointed in us but yet Mom and Dad are together now.

I feel I'm just rambling now

DD and DGD leave this afternoon and we probably won't get to see them for months. I wish they lived closer. DD also wishes they lived closer so maybe that will happen someday. It is almost 10am and they're still asleep, while DH and I have already had a busy day. DD works a swing shift, and she's keeping that schedule while they're here because it will be easier for the baby to go back to their regular lives. We still have them until about 5pm, so maybe we'll get in another fun activity before they go.

    Have a great day!:flowerforyou:

As for Why I am living in Egypt. Sometimes I wonder this myself. No Really I enjoy living here. My husband is Egyptian and we were living in California years and years ago, when our three children were small. I encouraged him to move us to Egypt so the kids could learn Arabic and communicate with his family. My plan was to come for a "FEW" years ........well 25 years later... WE have raised the children, they all went to the states for universities, and we were all alone here! One son still lives in the states. Actually in SEATTLE, and works for Microsoft, one son moved back here and lives with us, and my daughter ended up marrying an Egyptian man and has now moved to Abu Dhabi. She has a little 6 month old baby and I miss her and the baby every day. I teach school over here though and it keeps me busy. (3rd grade) So that explains a bit about my life in a nutshell.

Every morning I either swim or do walking, stairs or some kind of aerobic or strength training except on Friday ( Holy Day here) I wear a pedometer and I really think it keeps me walking more so I can count up the steps every day. I used to shoot for 10,000 but usually these days I an getting over 13,000 or more. That makes me excited! (It doesn't take much to get me excited!)

I enjoyed reading all the posts that have been written since I last signed in. I think I do the best if I am an abstainer. But I can do moderation on some things. I do love pop corn though and eat it for snack a lot. I didn't think there was anything bad about pop corn. But lots of people talk about it like it is a NO NO!. It is better than a bag of chips! RIGHT? For some reason I always thought it was healthy??? Am I crazy or what?

well as usual I need to get some things prepared for school tomorrow.
So have a good day every one. Phyllis in the REAL EGYPT.:flowerforyou:

I guess anyone can join in this list, so I'll say hi to everyone. I'm 56 and I've been oh a search for about a year to figure out what is going on with this body and drop some pounds. Wow, I had no idea being in menopause would make such an impact on my weight or getting rid of it. I am hooked up with a good trainer now and I am enjoying that very much, I call him the exercise whisperer. I am grateful for my good health regardless of the extra pounds, life is good.

Once again marking my spot in this long and chatty list of ladies:happy:

Lin - I so hope you find some relief from the fibro - you will have to keep me posted on your results/success and I can passit on to my daughter.

Jen - Oh the dreaded "Mom, I'm okay but...." phone call. I just got one myself last week. So glad your son is okay.

colorado Lunch ladies - hope you have a wonderful time:smile: without us:frown:

Linda - I took a look at the calorie counter and yes, it puts me at quite a few more calories too - about 300+.Not too sure what to think about that. I noticed it also recommended 8 meals a day! I don't know how to do that?!? with other people in the house. Any ideas:smile:

Lila - looking forward to seeing that new haircut. I habve had the same cut for years too and not sure if Ihave the courage to change it up:noway:

Katla - Enjoy these last moments with your girls. So fun for you to have them there.

    Go well ladies, stay well.

So I went to the clinic yesterday and got antibiotics for my ear and I am felling much better. I also got some more pain meds to get me thru.

Work has been interesting. she is still avoiding me. told me not to attend the meeting that I am supposed to run and be in charge of and basically ignores me. I had a nice little improptu chat with her boss. He is now aware of everything and encouraged me to get the complaint filed so he could address the issues and he is going to try to push the seating move quickly as well.

    Things could be looking up.

    Have a great day!
