I wonder if someone a lot cleverer than me can please explain what happens in the body after you eat all sorts of rubbish after doing strength training?

Does it make it completely ineffective? Does it feed the muscles with fat?! I'm completely unscientific unfortunately! Total binge yesterday (think Mc'Ds, crisps, chocolate) and want to avoid it happening again by educating myself & putting myself off a bit.

Thanks in advance.

The body will still use junk food to nourish the body after a workout. Provided the proper macro nutrients are present, recovery will take place.

No, it doesn't feed your muscles with fat. As long as you are at or below your TDEE (maintenance calories) it won't make a damn bit of difference. Just try and fit it into your macros. If it doesn't fit, it's just one day and again, won't make a difference. If anything any extra calories will make your lifting more effective.
