Unless you are under strict doctor supervision, which I'm not really sure you are, you should NEVER eat fewer than 1200 calories. Anyone that tells you otherwise is giving you a load of crap and bad advice and you can serioously mess up your metabolism for life.
Just eat right and healthy and workout, the rest falls into place.
MFP will never tell you to eat under 1200 calories and good doctors won't either. Only in EXTREME cases and under EXTREME doctor supervision (basically you meet with your doctor weekly if not more) will anyone EVER let you eat under 1200.
Other wise they are promoting an eating disorder which leads you to believe that anything under 1200 calories is ok, so where does it stop? You'll be starving yourself and losing muscle.0
