strength training!!

I have been reading posts on here and I need help with strength training exercises. I mainly want to start lifting weights though. My legs are very strong already, so I am trying to define my arms and upper body more. I have no idea how to even begin. i guess what I'm looking for is a good routine.

Replies

  • Personally, I do

    1: Back and Bis
    2: Shoulders and Core
    3: Chest and Tris
    4: Legs and Core

I usually add cardio in after or in between days... or jump rope in between exercises.

How strong are your legs? How much can you squat and dead lift?

A lot of people do 5x5 Stronglifts or Starting Strength with great results. I'd leave putting together your own programme until you've got plenty of experience under your belt.

    Strong Lifts 5x5.
5 basic lifts, very good for beginners.
Mostly upperbody but some leg work involved.
    40 different machines not required!
All you need is a barbell, some plates, a bench and perhaps a squatting rack when you start to go very heavy.

You can youtube search Strong Lifts 5x5 moves to see demonstrations :)

Try an intermediate crossfit WOD (goggle it) and then lift heavy for an upper body workout.
