Do you know of any dressings that have low sodium? I tend to like Ceasar, & Ranch the most (I get low or fat free) I do like some vinergarettes and Italian....I love salads but sodium is getting me! Thanks!

Do you live near a Trader Joe's? Their low-fat Parmesan Ranch is only 130 mg sodium (30 cals) per 2 T.

I make my own and it is fantastic!

    Here is the recipe:

    1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
    1 tsp mustard powder
    1-1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
    1-1/4 teaspoons dried oregano
    1-1/4 teaspoons dried basil
    1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt (I use kosher)
    1 teaspoon onion powder

Mix vinegar, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and onion powder in blender. Slowly add oil, blending well after each addition. Add oregano and basil and pulse just until blended.

I'm not sure what the sodium levels are for this recipe, but you can always decrease or omit the salt. If I add a tbsp of this to a salad, I will enter 1/2 tbsp of olive oil into my food diary since the amount of oil and vinegar are equal. Also, this dressing does not need to be stored in the fridge.

My favorite salad dressings are really simple and light since I don't tend to like too much dressing. My current favorite is:

    1 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp lemon or lime juice

    Whisk together, toss with greens.

I often add just a pinch of salt and some fresh ground pepper, but you certainly wouldn't have to add either.

40 calories per tablespoon, 0 mg sodium if you don't add salt and it lets the great taste of the veggies show through.

Try Galeos Miso Caesar!!! It's all I eat now. 14 cals per serving & sodium is 56 mg. I love caesar dressings & this is totally guilt-free!

That does look really good. And I actually recognize all of the ingredients! (Not something that I can say for a lot of bottled dressings out there.) I have never seen it in grocery shops in my area, though. That's disappointing.

I almost always just put balsamic vinegar on my salads with a load of pepper and if I'm feeling it..a small sprinkle of salt. Its really good mixed with splenda (or similar) if you are having a sweet tooth. I love it because its has a ton of flavor which helps me feel like I've eaten something. :)

    have you tried
    1/2 c. olive oil
2 tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar
    1/4 tsp. paprika
    1/8 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. sugar or equivalent of agave or splenda or stevia to taste

you can dress it up with dill, basil, marjoram, garlic, tarragon, etc.

Litehouse has some good low cal/low sodium dressings. The 3 I've tried are Zesty Orange, Raspberry Lime, and Balsamic. They are very tasty.

My current favorite is combining 1 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp olive oil, and a sprinkling of Mrs. Dash Fiesta Lime. That is currently my absolute FAVORITE seasoning. I got the inspiration from the Fiesta Lime Cucumbers that I posted in the Recipe forum not too long ago.

I'm going to try to develop it into a full-blown vinaigrette recipe. As it is now, it's NO sodium, but I may add some in the recipe. It won't be more than about 100mg for 2 Tbsp. That's going up either today or tomorrow. Keep an eye on my blog!
