Nike +

I was wondering if anyone is using the Nike + system and if you could use it on a different type of shoe. I can't wear Nike because I find them too narrow, I prefer New Balance for the width. I like the idea of using this for tracking workouts. I was also wondering if you could track bike rides with this.

I think the best Nike+ shoe is Air Pegasus+ 26, but for running I prefer Asics, Saucony, Brooks, or New Balance. You can buy the Nike+ Lace Lid and wear on your laces with any shoe.0

I love the Nike +. It's great for tracking and a good motivator. You don't need the special shoes. There are a few different products available that will hold the sensor to your shoes. I just googled Nike Plus Sensor Holder and a bunch of stuff came up. It won't work for bike rides as it's more like a pedometer, but if you have an iphone there are apps that can track your rides. Also a gps would do the trick. Hope this helps.0

Go to amazon.com and place a search for Nike plus shoe pouch. You should have no problem using the sensors with any shoe from here on in. Good Luck!0

I got my pouch at Best buy for like $10 I think. I've never had my sensor fall out or the pouch fall off. Love Nike+!!!0

i do the nike + when i walk/jog/run but i don't wear their shoes. i've actually bought a sensor pod 2 put my on my shoe. it goes around the laces & it's pretty neat (& cute lol) it's called a bean pod & i can wear it with any shoe. amazon sells them but i got mine off of ebay.

I don't use the Nike+ for monitoring, but I can put in a great recommendation for the new Nike Free Run shoes.
They are Nike+ capable, but they are some extremely great shoes that simulate barefoot running.
They really give you a great amount of flexibility in your feet while you are running.
I do all of my running on an elliptical right now, but once I switched to these shoes from my Asics runners, I could definitely feel different muscles in my legs and feet being sore and getting tighter.0 -
I just bought the Nike Pegasus 27+ ... but still don't 'grasp' what the + is?0

I used nike+ several years ago and while I had no complaints about the sensor adapter I used for my shoelaces, I did find that the run distances were about 8-12% off because it's not a GPS but rather a pedometer. There was a free program I found somewhere that let me adjust the actual run length after the fact, but this became tedious. I'd have to go to Google Earth, trace the exact path, and enter the actual length and it would adjust all the intermediate lengths. It was showing me going faster than I actually was, which was a bit discouraging when I ran in a couple small (5K, 5-mile) runs, as I was not as fast as I thought I'd trained for.0
