I've not really tried this much but does anyone have suggestions for how to do this??
I know that you can chart shots and beer but what about like mix drinks? Also, any tips on how do not forget to chart them ?
I'm more curious than anything especially since my 21st is Wednesday....
Thanks for the help!

i prelog how much i expect i'll drink so that that is factored in for the day, and then log two for every one after i run out of allowance.
So i might log a bottle of wine ( 6 standard glasses) then after that if i get another wine i log it as two, then if i drink the next one and forget to log it, no biggie.
Also i excercise more if i'm going out so that i have 'room'0 -
It's your 21st! It only happens once so if I was you I would not worry about what you eat and drink. You can get back on track the next day. Have a great party and congratulations.:drinker:0

and re mixed drinks, log it as what you know is in it. Stay clear of most cocktails and go for lower cal options like mojitos or simple vodka and diet coke or whatever.0

If it's your 21st I say you probably shouldn't track and just have a good time.
But, usually, stick to one type of drink (not a mix drink) and remember how many you have. For example, get a vodka soda (which only has calories from the vodka and not the soda) and you can watch the bartender/ask to see if it's a double or not...and then track by ounces. A shot typically has 1.5 fl oz.0 -
Have fun!
Exercise more this week. LOL
1 night of debauchery is not going to ruin your progress..
I went to the casino in AC for my 21st and started at the top of the drink menu and ordered 1 of everything until I couldn't drink anymore. LOL I was still skinny the next day.. :~p0 -
Haha! Thanks for all the tips guys and gals!!!
I do plan on a night of fun just curious for future reference! lol :drinker:0 -
My advice is go for it, you're only going to be 21 once!
I log mine on the notes in my phone if that helps, then log them on here when I can get on.
If I forget one or two... well, I think I don't really care by that point!0 -

ican access it on my phone, on the app AND on the internet - and i still log it in notes and put it in later lol.0 -
As far as your 21st is concerned, designate a friend to keep track of your drinks so you can look back the next week and laugh at what you had. Log off of that. Happy birthday and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drinker:0

You should always keep track of how much you've drink, not only for the calories.0

I preplan my evening out as much as possible. Based on what we are doing, I generally know how long we will be out and about how many cocktails I will have. If going to a chain, I try to look at their menu / nutritional information before I go and know what I am going to drink. If I cannot do this, I try to stick to a lower calorie drink (so few to none of my favorite Cosmos or Dirty Martini's). Lately, I have been sticking to vodka soda; sometimes, I carry crystal light to add in for more flavor (but not calories).
Additionally, I eat lower calorie throughout my day and I add in an extra workout.
Good luck!0 -
I drink things that are accurately measured. Free-poured spirits are a no-no, and wine is often over or under-poured in big glasses. It depends on the bar and the server. Luckily I'm a bartender myself and I know the systems in our bar so even if I'm not working I'll ask my colleagues to pour my vodka using the jigger and use fresh lime not syrup.
As for tracking what I've had, I write a little note on my hand for every drink. That way I'm not constantly pulling out my phone. I'll stick to the same 2 or 3 things all night. m for malibu (my shot of choice at 51cal), v for vodka (4cl long drink).0 -
In WI its' typical 21 bday tradition to keep tallies of shots and drinks on your arms with a sharpie! haha...as far as going out other times I usually ordered vodka mixers. Most rail vodka's are around 64 calories. Gina and tonic is another lower calorie drink. Since I statred being serious about losing weight, I have cut alcohol out entirely until my bday the end of April. I've been looking for apps on my phone to keep track of drinks but haven't found one that is especially great yet. Definitely go out and just enjoy your bday and not worry about keeping track. However, coming from someone who gained alot fo weight from not exercising and starting to drink after turning 21, I know how quickly your lifestyle can change. So friendly adivce, have a great bday but don't fall into the college drinking trap lol. happy early bday!0

happy birthday, my daughter turns 23 that day, so go out and enjoy yourself, it is a great day for a birthday, esp. since it is first real day of spring and spring equinox0

Honestly, if you're ordering mixed drinks it's really difficult to track them. Bars hardly ever measure the alcohol so you never know how many ounces you're getting. Best bet is just to order what you *know* is generally low calorie. Vodka soda, Rum & Diet coke, etc etc and just enjoy yourself.0

Happy birthday! I just try to stick to stock things like 12oz bud light or vodka tonic water because all I have to do is log one thing per drink... but it's your birthday so definitely live it up! Try to do your best to guestimate but it's always a crap shoot with alcohol and logging.0

I mark them down and enter them the next day.
Have a nice birthday0 -
21st birthday. All drinks are zero calories.
Have fun, don't bother counting calories. That just makes the whole point kinda... just don't log and have fun for the day.0 -
I wouldn't be tracking **** on my 21st b-day.0

I take off days... its depressing. but hey I gained 10lbs this weekend... already lost 8.. carbs and drinks and bad food exit thy temple.0 -
I try to log them in as I go via the MFP app. It does get a bit tricky with mixed drinks but I try to go with worst case scenario. Assuming that drinks are made strong and knowing that there is more calories in an ounce of liquor than an ounce of soda or juice, all you need to to is enter appropriately for the glass size. SO, for a 6oz tumble of Jack and coke I might enter 1.5-2oz of Jack and 3-3.5oz of coke, assuming the the last oz. is water.0

for every drink - have a glass a water.
it’s the best habit to start.
my husband and I call it the "reward system". after you drink your water - you "reward" yourself with a drink.
it helps you stay hydrated and drink a little less.
no one needs to know its water. if someone gives me hard time for "not drinking" I just tell them it’s a vodka and sprite.
happy birthday! enjoy :drinker:0 -
If you like cocktails, it isn't hard to log them. Even the obscure ones I like are in the database (Try an Old Fashioned or a Sidecar).
I also try to plan ahead and pre-log so I know how much I can have before going over. That is tough to do when it is a big day and people are buying you drinks. Even if you aren't going to track calories, you should have some trusted friend keeping track of your drinks, and making sure you don't overdo it. Stay safe and have a great time!0
