Hi All......I just read thisin Diet n Fitness Magazine (UK), it's quite scary so I thought i'd share it with you (whilst having a Bacardi n Coke lol!!!)
If you wanna burn off a 600 calorie bottle of wine you'd have to:-

2) Swim 3 miles in 2 hours.
3) Walk 6 miles in 2 hours.
4) Zumba for 2.5 hours.
5) Body conditioning for 3 hours.
6) Washing car/windows for 4.5 hours.
7) Gardening for 5 hours.
8) Cleaning the house for 6 hours.
9) Cycling for 1.5 hours.
10) Computer work for 14.5 hours.
Scary stuff.....I say pouring another drink (it's Friday so it doesn't count, surely????)

Drinking one glass a wine has a lot of benefits too. I am not encouraging anything, but only one a day isn't bad for you as long as you are making room in your calorie budget. Heres a website that tells you the benefits. http://www.health.com/health/article/0,,20410287,00.html0 -

1) Run 10K in 1 hour.
3) Walk 6 miles in 2 hours.
10K is 6.21 miles. So, pretty much, move 6-ish miles?0 -
I find this a pretty sick mentality.
You probably burn somewhere in the ballpark of 2000-3000 calories per day just from your BMR and daily activities. If you put it all in context, that bottle of wine could be "burned off" while you sleep for 5.5 hours.0 -
A bottle of vodka (0,5l) is over 1k calories0
-
Sweet! Somebody pass the wine!0
-
...or just eat 600 less calories from other sources.
You're welcome, America.0 -
If I've had a bottle of wine I think there is only one way I'm going to want to burn it off.0

Agree, but my understanding is that your body processes booze before getting to other calories....so while you are burning off that wine, the steak is turning to fat.
Perhaps the moral is to not eat when one drinks?0 -

That was my thought exactly. Time to go for a run. The wine is waiting!Wait a bottle of wine is only 600 calories? Too bad Im not a fan of wine.0

The real calorie burner is actually being able to remain standing while performinjg any of said activities after enjoying the entire bottle!! Drunken Zumba, sounds like a good time0

can't tell if joking. if you're in a calorie deficit, the steak won't store as fat. it will be burned off because you're in calorie deficit.
in other news, water is wet.0 -
Per MFP, I burn about 2,200. So if I eat 2,200 AND drink a bottle of wine (2-3 beers is more likely for me, but just rolling with the set-up) I do in fact need to burn more through additional exercise.
I have no idea how you can find counting calories in and out in order to arrive at/maintain a healthy weight as a "sick mentality".I find this a pretty sick mentality.

That's definitely the moral - eating kills the buzz. :drinker:0 -

It reminds me of exercise bullemia. "I just ate these french fries. I better get on that elliptical for an extra 2 hours tonight!" It's not sustainable. And it's no way to live.
Why not just set up a sustainable lifestyle that includes the occasional bottle of wine within the parameters?0 -
Six mile walk in 2 hours? EASY AS PIE. I'd better start drinking more wine.0

Gascon Malbec is also one of my favorites!0
