Hi, I'm new!

Hi, my name is Ashlea. I'm 23 and am a mom to an amazing 9 month old boy!

I've always been a bit overweight but I gained about 50lbs before I got pregnant from being depressed. Then while pregnant I gained another 40 lbs.

Currently I'm trying to find the time to work out while having a hyper 9 month old who will only nap on me so I can't workout while he naps and I'm stuck being sedentary during his two daily naps. =/ I also have to contend with a small pet dog that thinks when I'm working out it means I want her to jump on me, bite at my hair, or lay down behind me so when doing certain exercises I end up lay on her.

I live in Florida so being 252 lbs doesn't fit well with the beach going crowd. We also can't really afford to buy me new clothes, unless they are for a job that I don't have, and I have one pair of jeans that fit and no summer clothes. =(

I'm hoping to at least get down to 180lbs but my long time goal is to be about 135-140 lbs.

I'm not sure what else to put here but help! I'm such a picky eater and healthy food is so expensive and I just don't know how to change my diet to lose weight.

Thanks for reading.
Ashlea

Hi Ashlea - I'm new here too. From what I've seen there are tons of subjects that are very informative just in the forums!! Everyone seems so willing to help.

Good luck in your weight loss journey. I am 42 & have lost over 80lbs since 2009, you can do this!! I have lost weight before, but it always seemed to creep back on ... :( But I have kept it off for 3+ years & am determined this time.

When my 2 kids were little, I would do exercise DVDs at 10pm when they were asleep. Also, I ate at least 1 big salad a day - usually at dinner (with grilled chicken breast or tuna) and made it for the kids as well. So they grew up eating vegetables & today they LOVE them :) & they are 18 & 16 now!!

It's definitely something that takes time - no healthy results happen overnight ... And it is also a lifestyle change - not something temporary ...

Not to be mean but first teach your little one to sleep in his own bed... you need time for you as well. then get put your little dog behind a closed door while you exercise.

I have 4 children and had a hard time exercising when they were lttle too but for your sanity let your little boy figure out how to sleep by himself. Jillean Micheals has some 30 minute videos that you could also do while your little one is in a playpen watching you..soon he will be exercising alongside you =).

My first pregnancy I gained 80 pounds so I know how you feel..I am now 20 years in your future and finally am getting to losing that weight plus the other weight I gained with the other 3 babies. Way to go for starting when your little one is so young ..you CAN do it! All the best to you an much success!
