GIRLS ONLY - Monthly weight question.

Totally normal. They say the average woman gains around 7lbs at that time of the month.0

Definitely. You bloat, retaining lots of water.
I'm 117 lbs, and can fluctuate 3-5 lbs around my period.
I stay away from the scale during those days.0 -
I've been weighing every single day since last June. I've also been using an app called Pink Pad. Turns out that we gain that stupid water weight twice every month. Think this is why women get so discouraged easily.
So my app sends me a message when I'm "flowering". :blushing: that one makes sense cause the body is making a nice plushy flowerbed for the egg. So then that passes, water sheds and then we wait for the second wave.
It makes a lot of sense when you see the pattern weighing everyday creates.0 -
I gain 7-10# and my whole body swells up, my fingers look like sausages.0

I get nauseous! so I am on a roller coaster drop 1-2 lbs but gain it back when I start to binge Lol...... drives me crazy!0
-
Not only do we bloat and gain weight, the body naturally flucuates from 1-5 lbs daily. So don't worry, if you aren't over eating you will be back to normal and probably be losing a pound or two in the process0

I gain 3-5 pounds during my TOM. It's normal and goes away a week after my period ends...so I'm usually bloated for about 2 weeks out of the month.....Unfortunately0
-
Like others, my water gain was more like 4-5 pounds. Don't stress and just weigh yourself in a few days.0
-
LOL this was probably the best post I have ever read! I gained about 5-7 lbs, and it drives me crazy!0
-
Yes! My TOM is next week and the weight is already coming...up 3 pounds from sat.... And I want to eat everything in sight...I usually gain 3-7 pounds every month...0
-
Absolutely... Even if it's "present" at the time i know it's coming that day since my weight just goes straight up. I hate it but i guess that's just part of being a female i guess. the only thing i guess we can do is to plan somewhat for it and just do what we can.0

Omg, I really needed to read this. I am a newbie and never even thought about this, I start tomorrow and was up 6 lbs this am... So freaked out! Lol!!!0

Yes, BUT I've found extra calcium around that time helps. Less extra weight when I'm drinking skim milk with ovaltine or eating fruit with nonfat yogurt after workouts.0

I also put on weight about that time as well. I also get a massive sweet craving! I will be making my kids dinner and opening up cupboards to see what I can find.
On occasion I had had about three spoons of chocolate spread, one of my kids lollypops, a Muller crunch corner yoghurt and a fairy cake! That was in just 20 minutes... about 30 minutes after that I felt so sick LOL!! But I just can't help myself! I am getting better with the sweet craving though and it only happens once during my cycle, but boy is it a massive craving!0 -
My weight usually goes up around 10lbs throughout, but drops right after - just have to give it 2-3 days. It's mostly water wight for me. I crave soda usually, lol.0

I've gone up 6 pounds! Not fun, but if you stay consistent with eating and exercise, it comes back off0

I always want to eat my arm because I am so hungry 7-10 days before my period. And when the feeling hits, I refuse to weigh myself until about day 3-4 of my period. I used to weigh myself and I will actually put on between 5-7 pounds that would magically be gone by day 3-4. It would depress me during a time when I am already irritable so I put my scale away and pray that the weight isn't hanging around. The hard part, for me anyway, is to NOT give in to the "hunger" and binge on anything and everything.0

Yes, anything from 1lb - 5lbs. Totally normal, but annoying!!!! I do weigh during this time but tend not to record the weigh-in that week or at least for a few days until things have settled back down. I find drinking extra water during this time helps things get back to normal faster.0
