Any suggestions?

I started MFP seriously just over 40 days ago. I'm 20 years old, 5'7", and started eating 1200 calories a day. I went from 180 to 165 in around two weeks, which I was thrilled about. I seem to have hit a plateau and gained back five pounds, despite staying around the 1200 calorie mark. I allow myself to go over no more than once a week, but even then I am only getting up to around 1600 calories. I have not been working out much more than doing some sit ups and push ups, but I gain muscle very quickly.
I have always been considered just "overweight", based on my BMI, but always thought it was just because I have a relatively athletic build. I look and feel better than I have in a while, but I'm kind of discouraged by my lack of progress on the scale, despite eating better and much less.
Any suggestions??

Sorry but you don't gain muscle very quickly. Sit ups and pushups won't build muscle especially only consuming 1200 cals a day.
Add in exercise... change how much you eat. Consuming only 1200 calories is causing you to lose more muscle along the way. You are also at a decent weight so you need a very small deficit.0 -
yeah i'm no pro, but i'm gonna say maybe um, add in working out.0

Dropping pound that fast more then likely has put you body into starvation mode. Try eating five times a day. Do some exercise that burn calories liking running.0

Starvation mode is a myth thrown around here far too often. You would have to go without food for days. Also, eating multiple times a day will do nothing extra than eating once a day provided calories are the same.
The OP needs to increase cals and add in exercise. Consuming far too little increases muscle loss especially without heavy lifting.0 -
I guess I meant muscle definition, not muscle. Would you recommend any specific type of exercise that would help me get to losing again?0

First off you would need to up your calories. 1200 is far too low. I can lose while netting 1600 plus each day.
Up your calories and your protein consumption. Lift weights so you can maintain muscle instead of lose it while you lose the last little bit of weight. Do cardio... walking, biking, jogging, running, anything really.0 -
Did I read that right? You lost 25lbs in two weeks? I've never heard that in my life except for people that are morbidly obese.0
