Colon Cleanse?????????

Options
Has anybody ever tried this??
I've always heard from Dr. that they are unnecessary.

Well I have been having severe pain in my left upper abdoman, that my dr. says could be my spleen or my colon. So I asked him if I should try a colon cleanse to see if that is what the prob was. He said it wouldn't be a bad idea, but he gave me no recommendations. I have tried stool softners, but they don't relieve the pain that I am having.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I do a colon cleanse whenever neccessary. My doctor has always approved, even tho it is often labeled as unneccessary.
There are different things that you can do. They vary from a short fast to seeing an actual specialist.
If you have tried stool softeners but nothing else I recommend starting slowly and don't do it when you have other things planned. Like a weekend or when you have a couple days off....you never really know what might happen.
For starters, check out your local Health Food store for Senna Tea. It smells like sewage but plug your nose and chug while it is as warm as you can stand before bed. By morning you'll know it is working. Senna Root is natural...read the label of what you are buying. If you buy it in a health food store you can ask someone if you are unsure. It doesn't cause the cramps that regular laxitives and stool softeners do.
If you need to try an enema those are ok too.
Just remember to be mindful of what is going into your body before you try to cleanse. If its bad going in....just imagine what its like coming out. Keep your diet fairly light. Take in alot of fiber a couple days before you try to cleanse. Drink ALOT of water
Once you get used to it, look up the Master Cleanse Diet. It has been given both good and bad reviews, but I can tell you that it is safe when followed properly. Even my doctor has recommended it for my allergies and colon problems. It seems outrageous and a little crazy, but I can attest, as well as several others I know....it is fantastic....but it is not for everybody.
Good luck to you. I hope my info has been helpful. I have become an advocate for colon cleansing, as you may as well....My Mom always said it may be gross but you gotta poop......

Take it from me when I had that upper pain....and it turned into diverticulitis.....if the pain persists and goes down and across like an L...then it is an issue and you will need anitbiotics.....are you regular? If not this is a problem as well.....Now I do colon cleanses and take vitamin C everyday to maintain my colon...I do NOT want to be in the hospital AGAIN with that!!!

Well what would b considered regular? For me I would say that I am, but I take stool softners to help with that. For me no matter how much water or fiber I take it doesn't seem to get things moving, so I went to the softners to at least make it easier on me to try and go. I have only had the pain for about 2 weeks.
My doc had me do some blood tests and an xray 2day. So we will see, he did tell me to try what I can, and he scheduled a CT scan if I can't get the pain to go away by then.

    I luvs my steak.

So I don't think that is it, but thanks for the suggestion cuz I would have never of thought of that.

The only way i have ever tried a colon cleanse is a home remedy my aunt told me about. Take 4 glasses of lukewarm water, and mix in 2 teaspoons of non iodized sea salt. Drink it all within about 30 minutes if posssible. ( i drink it in about 10 minutes) then literally from 15 minutes to 60 minutes later you will be in the bathroom, and feel better than every after you are all flushed out.

Kim - have you ever tried a probiotic??? I take them and they are wonderful for your digestive system, digestive problems, and immune system. I didn't start taking them for that though... they also happen to work wonders for yeast infections - which I was plagued with back when I took birth control. Anyway, ask your doctor about them... I take the ones from GNC - they are in a white bottle with blue writing.

Ask you doctor about them for you... everyone I know who takes them loves them.

    Just wanted to update everyone.

Well I am still in the middle of cleanseing my colon, to make sure that the blockage is gone. But I am here to say that after a few laxatives I am pain FREE. :drinker:

So I appreciate everyones advice, and hopefully now I will be able to keep my BM in check. I now know the amount of fiber I should be intaking so hopefully that will keep me going in the right direction, no punn intended.

So thanks again, and have a good evening!!!
    :flowerforyou: to all of you!!
