Maybe they should also pay you for brushing your teeth, washing your hands after going to the bathroom, and all the other things you do to stay healthy.

Sounds great more government involvement in our personal rights and responsibilities. No wonder the US is wandering into the abyss.

It's not the government's responsibility to provide incentive for citizens to get themselves healthy. Take some responsibility.

Forget the Government... get a man.

How about a government program that gives you $1000 clothing allowance for every 20 pounds you lose?

how about a government program where they tax you an extra $100 for every bf% you are over the healthy range?

I like this idea. It will offset the massive financial burden on the healthcare system from obesity related diseases.

Where is the government gonna get that money?

Taxpayers...where the "government" always gets money.

Damn you people are harsh. I already have to pay for roads I never drive on and schools for kids that I dont even have let alone the gambling habits of senior citizens who like to use their SSI check via my taxes and get no benefit from. I'd rather get some money back from uncle Sam for my wardrobe.

Dont worry OP I agree with you and thats all the counts. I think it's a great idea.

Hey, that's how I trained my children to do all that. A quarter here and there works wonders for kiddies...and the OP, apparently.

LOL and we should tax everyone an extra $100 for every year they get older cause that old age is one of the most expensive disease process.

    Silly people.

I typically stay away from posts like these but I will bite...

Say wha??? Yeah it sucks to have to buy clothes on the regular but why should the government pay? I ate myself to fat. I found a better way than what you suggested though. I am on a board with all women and we did a clothes swap. It could easily be done on mfp too if it isn't already. Everyone won on that deal. We all are losing weight and are helping each other withthe pocket book.

Wll technically, aging is a choice. It's just usually considered better than the alternative.

I really think you should all take a hard look at yourself. This "boot strap" mentality will not serve you well. There will be a time in your life when you need help whether it be from friends, family, the government or strangers. It could be tomorrow or it could be in 50years but one day you will be eating your words.

OP had a fun idea and the hostile attitude of some of you is unbelievable. It wasn't like she had passed a bill. It was posted under a fun topics!

Don't think it's a government responsibility, nor can ours afford it. However, my daughter (11) came up with an idea for a non-profit organization that (for free) would teach people how to cook and eat healthily. I think that's a pretty cool idea.
