confused about scale?

I stepped on it today, and it read 184, which is a lot lower than I'm used to seeing. Shocked, I stepped off and stepped back on, and it read 191. Is there something going on with my scale? could it be broken? I don't know which number to believe.

Could just be the battery. I'm pretty sure mine needs a new one. I step on multiple times until it gives me a repeating number. It gives me 4 different answers until it's a repeated one. Then I regret stepping on again. Lmfao!

I agree, it could be the batteries or it could be the floor-carpet won't be even, I've even had issues with certain hard wood floors

If it is battery operated, it may need new batteries. If it is on carpet, move it to a hard surface. If it isn't level, level it. If it is electronic, you probably have to stand on it evenly. Mine has indicators to show when I am off center, if I squirm, it doesn't show the correct value.

If that doesn't do it, it may be time to replace it.

Throw it out and buy a tape measure. A person can fluctuate several pounds in a day, but a tape measure will show every 1/8th inch. I threw mine out and weigh myself once a month at the mom in laws house. Tape measure is much more encouraging!

This happens to me ALL the time!!! First it says 189 in the morning then it says 186 in the afternoon???? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??!!?!??!!?!?!?!? I pretty much just go with the one that repeats the most when I step on the scale. So if 188 is it that's what I go with....

My old digital scale did that, too....and I only had it a few months. So I got a new scale that not only shows your weight but calculates fat, water and muscle mass. I haven't had a problem with that one. I did pay more for it than the other. Maybe you do get what you pay for.

In that case, I'd say it's because you're weighing at different times of the day. Your body weight fluctuates naturally quite a bit during the day.

My scale gives me lots of error messages. lol.

Have to agree there. I weigh every three months and I am the happiest I have been in a long time. My clothes are fulling off and its cause I dont let the scales play mind games with me any more.......

Dont replace them measure and be happy......

i agree with those that say to throw it out and use a tape measure. the scale's numbers aren't that helpful. when you see you lost 2 inches on your waist, that makes a lot more sense than if you dropped 10 lbs (which could be water weight or even because you had undigested food in your digestive system or some other reasons).
