cocktail tips and tricks

I'm a 28 year old, newly engaged woman. My life revolves around social gatherings, dinners, weddings, engagement parties, etc. Can anyone provide some tips or tricks for cocktails at these gatherings?

    vodka with club soda. twist of lemon or lime.
    red wine.
    gin with diet tonic.

    stay away from fruit juices and heavy beers.
    the clear spirits have fewer calories than dark.
    if you are going to mix with soda - go for a diet soda.

    Club soda with lime. People won't know you're not drinking alcohol. When you have limited calories, it's just not helpful to your fitness to waste them on things with no nutritional value like booze. So I try to limit my intake to one or two real ones and have lots of club sodas. And crack.

    I'm not going to lie, I indulge once a weekend in alcohol. In other words, I'm single, social, into sports and love beer. I have no problem hammering down 10 beers on a Friday or Saturday. I've had what I feel like is pretty great success in losing so far. I just make sure I keep my exercise and food consumption on track so I can indulge. Some people have "food cheat days" but I trade that in for Miller Lite. I wouldn't worry about it too much. By the way, congrats on your engagement!!! :)
