ok, so the school year is over and I could not be happier about that, BUT the structure is now gone! It was easy to do well in school. 18 minutes for breakfast. Bell rings snack. Bell rings, lunch. Now, I want to graze all day! Any suggestions?

Graze away! Just graze on healthy vegetables and fruits.0

I'm a teacher, too, but do MUCH better health-wise during the summer! I have free time to prepare healthier meals, and loads more time to exercise.
My advise is... go ahead and "graze" but make sure they're healthy foods. And use some of that extra time to get in some extra (or just longer) workouts!
Enjoy your vacation!0 -
I have that problem on weekends, work keeps me in a nice routine. I would suggest getting into a different routine so that you can still stay on plan. Enjoy your time off as well!!!0

I spend so much more time working out! Burn even more calories... I also cut up veggies and fruit and keep that to snack on throughout the day!0

I find the school year much harder to stay on track and find the summer much easier. It's hot so I feel less like eating. Try spending more time outside, or turn the AC up a few degrees-(not uncomfortable, just less cool). Why not structure some of your time so that you feel more in control? In the summer I schedule time each day for the things I long to do but can't fit in during summer, writing, reading, crafting, etc. much more fulfilling than my eating0

Between working 60-80 hours a week during the school year, I love having the summer to watch what I eat and spend time in the gym or walking or anything outside. I would try to stick with the same schedule if you do well during the school year. Try to eat the same things at the same times. If you get hungry in between times chew gum or go for a walk, or lay out or do something away from food, lol.0

That's so funny! I am the exact opposite. I get all motivated at summer break, drop 20 pounds or so, and then gain it all back plus some once school starts back! Here is what helps me during the summer:
Chew gum
Keep my hands busy-surf the net. craft, scrapbook, play games with my parents (they're retired), walk the dog, read, etc.
The best way for me to stay full is to NOT eat anything processed. No sugars, grains, etc. When I eat whole, natural foods, I stay fuller much longer. Lots of protein, frutis, and veggies.
Enjoy your break! You deserve it!0 -
Me too - I have actually gained 5 lbs. !!! I am hoping to lose 10-15 lbs. Structured meal times have to be the only allowable times to even be in the kitchen, LOL. I wish I could structure exercise (which does not help at all) but I have knee problems and need a MRI on the 30th. Get rid of the "junk" in your refrig. and plan what you will eat for each plan. I plan have eggs for breakfast, and a salad for lunch or dinner everyday. It is soo hard to stay on track!!!0

thanks for all of you suggestions. the other thing I did not mention in this mix is kids. I have a one year old and a 3 soon to be 4 year old. Thank goodness thy like fruit, but there snacks and lunches do make me want to "graze" more. I have been fitting in daily walks so that helps. One thing that definately keeps me motivated is all the positive comments that I have gotten over the school year and not wanting to be the failure that sits at the first day of school meeting back where I started!0

Swim classes for the kids that forces you to wear a bathing suit? Too radical ? My friend has one year old, and she is doing that. She has lost about 20 lbs in a fairly short amount of time? You can do it and have lost sooo much wt. already!! It is inspiring!!!0

This post is so funny, I guess it all depends on your personality. For me, I eat much healthier during the school year because of the structure. I have to plan my meals out ahead of time, especially since I have breakfast on the go and a half hour lunch period. However, in contrast to some of you, summer is my WORST time.... I have a lack of structure, which gives me too much time to think about foods I shouldn't be eating.*LOL* How do you combat this?
