Need Help At The End of The Day

So yesterday was my first day with myfitnesspal. I did well during the day, as usual on weekdays, because I'm at work and I measure/package my foods and only eat what I bring in my lunchbag. No problems there! But once I get home is where the problem is. I'm either too tired, too lazy or too hungry to put the effort in to cooking dinner. I end up eating junk or whatever is quick to satisfy myself. I've had anything from fresh bread and butter to a baked potato or bowl of rice for dinner. Last night was frozen pizza because I walked in the door and I was just starving and I knew had some things to get done, so I put the pizza in the oven and I did what I had to do and within a half hour...voila, instant happiness! This type of habit is NOT going to help me lose weight or develop a healthier lifestyle. I use the crockpot when I can, but I'm single and I live alone so sometimes it's not easy to convince myself to put that kind of effort into a meal just for myself.
Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Eat most of your calories during the day so you aren't starving when you get home. Also, log all your food for the day BEFORE you eat it. I log everything I eat during the work ours so I know how much I have left for dinner and then I stay within my calorie range. Helps me a lot.0

Like you I have trouble in the evenings. I've found having a cook session at the weekend and making my own 'ready meals' that I can just pop in the oven or microwave helps. I also prepare vegetables and leave them in the fridge ready to just throw in a wok. It doesn't work for every day of the week but does help with a few.0

I have the same problem, and then snacking later in the evening after dinner too. The way I get around this is have something (small and healthy) like an apple while I'm cooking, it's amazing how much just a little apple can stop you from feeling as famished as you were 5 minutes ago! Also, I just don't buy unhealthy/instant food any more. I know it sounds obvious, but I know if it's there in the fridge/freezer I'll just eat it. I have no will power! Keeping your own pre-made healthy meals around for an instant dinner is really good too.0

Maybe you can make some individual packets meal size of beans or soup and take them out to thaw in the refrigerator before you leave for work or make a salad before you leave for work and stick it in the refrigerator so when you come home your dinner is all ready for you. another alternative is to have a protein shake in the evening. I have one in the morning but there is no rule book saying you can't have a blender meal for dinner when you are tired.0

I know this feeling all too well!
It really only takes a few minutes to prep ahead of time, and when you have these ravaging moments, you'll be grateful you did.
-Cut fruit and veggies and portion it in to-go type containers.
-Make salad for a week and invest in a good salad container.
-Cook major foods for the week. If you boil chicken and shred it, you can make numerous quick meals.
Honestly, I don't cook all too much. So much of my meals are salad and fresh veggie based, ie., grilled chicken salad, tuna salad/sandwich, ground turkey tacos. Most of the time I find myself having to cook less than one item at a meal when I prep.0 -
What you need to do is take a day and prepare your meals for the week and put them in the fridge so then when you come home exhausted it'll be just as easy as a frozen pizza. (:0

Eat a handful of almonds on the way home. Or a small apple. They both help curb your appetite. I like to take one day per week and POWER cook! I bake or grill chicken and beef, then package it in serving sizes for the freezer. I cut up veggies and freeze or refrigerate them into portions. GET THE STUFF YOU DON'T WANT TO EAT OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!
I am using Slenderiix and Xceler8. They have stopped the cravings and I am losing an average of a 1/2 pound per day. 18days and 12.6 pound GONE!!0 -
i love a couple of soft scrambled eggs at dinner time. Feels like a hot meal, quick and cheap, no planning or time involved. throw in some veggies and a tiny bit of cheese, spinach is good....filling and warm in my tummy.0
