weighing meat

I finally got a scale and was just wondering do you weigh meat before or after it is cooked?

    I always do it after... I dont want calories counted against me for stuff that cooks off

    Yep after, because again that's what I'm eating, I don't eat the stuff that has 'escaped' so to speak, lol

    You can do whatever you want, but the serving sizes, calorie counts, and other nutrition information are for the *uncooked* amount.

    Not always true. Take bacon for example. The nutrition will be different depending on the cooking method and level of done-ness (if that's a word).

    Other than that type of exception though, I agree with you - weight before cooking (of raw foods) is usually how it's done.

    My trainer told me to weigh meat after its cooked.
  • Weighing it after is ideal, but it's not practical if you've added the meat to something.
