I gave up soda, .Diabetes medication and 65 pounds so far. I released them happily. Oh I also gave up "pretending to eat the foods I crave in moderation". My mind and body don't seem to understand that term.

I gave up a ton of stuff. I dumped just about all processed foods, soda, sugar, rice, pasta, potatoes, and non-whole grain products. I switched to whole foods, use low-sodium versions as needed. I gave up some hobbies for working out and running. It's been 2 years and I have never felt better in my life.

    Cottage cheese
    green tea ice cream
    baked chips
    IPAs

    (all things I don't like)

Amen on the cottage cheese... What IS that hideous excuse for a CHEESE????
    Cottage cheese is awesome

You can make it into a dessert with fruit and honey or even add vanilla protein powder....
You can make it savory with spinach and turkey pepperoni

I became vegan. Not so much for weight loss, but for sustainable health for me and for my one year old son. I want him to grow up knowing where food comes from and that his health is his GREATEST commodity.

this thread is about lent....therefore, religious....therefore, divisive.

    reported.

Not hardly...I am the OP .....my reason for the question?
I am sick of people that want change and are willing to do nothing to get it long term....and can not believe that you do and can.

Sleeping in. I'm up at 5am every day to get my exercise in and done for the day. Sucks a bit, but TOTALLY worth giving it up!

I gave up excuses and lying to myself.

I gave up daily weighing and frustration over the scale.

I gave up four inches from my waist and a few more from my hips.

    It's been fantastic.

It is amazing what we gain when we give up .....perhaps that was a poor choice of word..choose to no longer eat,do,ect.
I have gained a much happier self!

Stuff I gave up so far:

Fast food until I hit my goal
Big meals better to eat less more often
    My old wardrobe
    My boobies
    100lbs of starvation protection
    Being warm in my house
    Excuses about being big boned
    Daily deep fried delights

Stuff I still need to give up

My favorite robe its about 10 sizes too big and the sleeves keep lighting on fire when I cook with it on.
    Diet soda
Excuses for not dressing like a woman instead of a mom

That's my question what is this journey worth to you? what are you willing to give up?

Nothing. It's a way to live, not a journey - so the question as I see it should be "What are you willing to work for?"

I gave up a lot for the results I've gotten. Processed foods, wheat in any form, sugar...and most of all my beloved Diet Coke. I love the results I am getting way more than I could ever love any of these foods!!!

I am giving up using food as a source of comfort when I am sad or stressed out.

This is a great one. I was about to post that I'm not giving up anything, but I am giving up some of my emotional and psychological issues surrounding food.

I'm not, however, giving up actual food items. I'm adding in more healthy choices, like aiming for making 80% of my food choices good ones and working out three to four times a week. But I'm still enjoying the things I love. There's no reason for me to start giving things up, and in the past it has always led to diet failure when I start putting foods off-limits.

I've given up struggling to walk hills, coughing when I lay down in bed at night because of indigestion, feeling squished into little car, movie and plane seats, feeling old. There's more but those examples flew onto the keyboard. As one of my friends would say, it's so worth it.

Mindless eating. Being a slave to the scale. I gave up sugar (mostly, very special occasions excepted) because it's a binge food for me -- once I start I can't stop.

True true my friend but you did not stay the same to get where you are today...if you read the other 2 posts I wrote I am the OP you would see I know it's THE way I live now...
