Inner thighs

Ok this is kinda embarrassing... but as a big girl I have large thighs. My thighs tend to rub against eachother when I walk, run, you name it they rub. Usually its not a big deal but occassionally I get bumps that get red and very irritated. They hurt to the touch and are raised away from the skin like a giant irritated pimple. Usually after several days they go away but most of the time they leave this nasty black spot on my thighs. Now I have several of those black spots on my thighs (not to mention the inner thigh skin is dark anyway from the constant rubbing).
Does anyone else have this problem or am I all alone?? Do you know how to hide/lighten it or prevent it from happening? I'm afraid once I get to my goal weight I'll be wearing a bikini and looking good except for my black spotted inner thighs

I too have had that problem. I bought some crystal body deoderant spray at ulta that has been helping. I really like it and you can spray it anywhere and it smells fresh.0

I wear a lot of dresses during the summer and I literally have rubbed my thighs raw. what helped me was buy cheap deodorant from the dollar store and rubbing it on my thighs. It last all day. I tried powder, that didn't work all day, but the deodorant hontestly works.0

This has always happened to me. ALso i tend to wear out my jeans in the inner thigh because of rubbing when I am walking.
I wonder if the marks will go away when the thighs no longer rub eachother?0 -

Ugh I know what you mean... I only have 2 pairs of jeans left, the other 5 all have holes and rips in those inner thighs
Oh and I have wondered the same thing myself. lol
Thanks for all the suggestions... I usually put lotion there but it doesn't really help much, I will try deodorant and see if it helps0 -
Desitin (the stuff for baby diaper rash), Anti Monkey Butt, Vaseline, etc, all can help to prevent friction burns.0

I am wondering if wearing short tights would help? Like the ones for exercise, or maybe they make ones even that are just to wear.0

I've had thighs that rub together since I was 9. lol So yeah, I feel you. What I like to do is wear biking shorts (those tight spandex type shorts) under things like skirts. They are skin tight so they aren't noticeable and keep the thighs from chafing. I wish I had more advice than that.
By the way, to the person who wears out the inner thighs of your jeans - I'm right there with you, hun. I've had to throw away so many, otherwise good, pairs of jeans just because I've worn the thighs through. I CAN'T WAIT until i get to the point where my thighs no longer rub!0 -
Spanx! LOVE THEM! under skirts and if the skirt isn't long enough for it I do either baby power or the anti chaffing cream by monistat.0

I do this, too, but I also own a coulotte (spelling?) slip that I wear under my longer dresses. It's lightweight... and I only feel a little like Amelia Bloomer.... just a little...0 -
I love this site....it is so nice reading these notes and realizing that I am not the only one who has thighs that rub like sandpaper and have ruined SO many clothes!! My shorts get the little "pills" from the material rubbing against each side!! I don't think I've actually gotten holes yet in any of my stuff, but the material is definitely wearing out. We'll see when the cooler weather gets here and I have to put pants on again if the thighs of my pants wear out fast.0

I get chub rub ALL THE TIME....so if I wear a dress, I will wear either leggings or go with the chub rub and put aloe vera on it at night time after i take a shower...if you soak it, it burns, but it feels so much better in the morning. As for the dark spots, they will eventually fade, you can try tanning them out though:) I'm DEF gonna try the deodarant thing( I will most likely try men's deodarant though, as it is antipersperant.
Oh yes and all my jeans that I have own have gotten holes in the inner thigh, even my exercise pants...it sucks0 -
i hated when that happened! so i started wearing bike shorts/spandex shorts under my skirts or sometimes just stretch pants if the dress is long like the popular maxi dresses now. i hate that my pants get ruined but for now if i have to replace jeans i buy them for less than 20 dollars ONLY!!!
i always thought i was the only one that had the inner thigh problem and i won't say its nice to know that i'm not alone cuz i wouldn't wish that on anyone!0 -
i hear you as well i weigh 165 right now and although i lost 30 pounds i too have that problem i am 5"7 so not obese i am very muscular and it hurts. i have to put goldbond powder before i leave work and exercise or i will get chaffing as well.0

Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel works wonders.0

I know this is an old thread but I stumbled across it so I thought I'd ad to it. This is a problem for many people not just bigger people and is a topic that comes up a lot in conversations about Burning Man (an arts festival in the middle of the dessert).
I use BodyGlide. It's an anti-chaffing runners balm. I never have to wear shorts under my dresses anymore (unless I'm cycling). Thankfully since that made me too hot! I wear dresses all summer long and don't get chaffing or any rashes anymore. I even run around Burning Man in booty shorts, or tutus or whatever and it's not even an issue there. BodyGlide really stands up, I rarely have to re-apply throughout the day.0 -
As a runner I've used both Body Glide and Sports Shield. Both work great for anti-chafe. Body Glide is more like a smooth dry consistancy and Sport Shield is more of a wettish smoth consistancy.0
