Need Advice on Strong Lifts for Women.

I spoke to my husband regarding lifting. He has done it in the past and he claims he hated it! He said it hurt really badly. I personally think I will feel empowered. Before we invest in home equipment, I want to be sure I understand what I would be getting myself into.

First how much weight do you start lifting?

How much discomfort do you have in your body from lifting? To start and long term.

How long before you see actual results?

When eating, how many more calories would I need to add to my daily intake? I eat 1210 currently.

My husband also says I will have to remain super active while lifting because I can't possibly burn off all calories needed to be lifting t begin with. Is that true? If so, how much more active would I have to be? Im a stay at home mom/web designer so I work infront of the computer often.

If I invest in home equipment, how much is it? What will I need exactly?

Thanks for the advice, I really feel this would be something I would really enjoy, but I'm just researching at this point.
