Lifting routine for newbie?

I want to start lifting (free weights). I lifted a little in high school and I am familiar with proper techniques for doing squats, lunges, etc. But I have no idea where to start. Which exercises should I do? How many reps? How often? Does anyone have a link to a good website with a detailed schedule that I can print out and take the the gym with me?

Depends on your goal.
Head over to bodybuilding.com and you can either look through the forums or look into the actual workout section. They have many MANY programs you can pick from depending on your goal and most good ones give you a spot to print it out.0 -
I second bodybuilding.com. Muscleandstrength.com is good, too. New Rules of Lifting is informative as well. Go for big, compound movments. If you can do 2 sets at 10 reps without sacrificing form, then the weight is too light. As for how many sets/reps, that depends on your goals and/or your program.0
