Since we reached 500 post the other thread is locked, so I thought I would start a new one.
To all the haters this is not a debate thread about Paleo, there are other threads to do that on. This is for people that are already doing Paleo/Primal/caveman/low carb diets or those interested in learning more about them.

Thanks for starting a new thread! It does automatically make a new one though. but I'm happy to have a new one since it's haunting me that I spelled Paleo wrong in the last one lol0
-
I didn't know it started a new one, where at and under what name?0
-
I have been doing Primal/Paleo for about 12 weeks now.0
-
Replying so I can find the new thread! Still going steady on Primal / Paleo / whatever (I'm eating Greek yogurt and having a daily protein shake, so call it what you will). Stuck at a mini-plateau for 3 weeks, so I'm staying off the scale until Friday. I still have plenty to lose, and I've been pretty much on track with minor indulgences (wine usually) on the weekend. I might try scaling back my macadamia nuts (sob!). If someone wants to look at my diary please friend me - I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks for starting another thread! Going strong on Paleo with the exception of a daily protein shake and occasional brown rice
Let's keep each other motivated!!!0 -
Ok so I'm an idiot, didn't know MFP would auto start a new thread "part 2" when it locked the old one. We can let this one die and stay on the other one.0
-
Awesome. Thank you! We Paleo People do need the support. I will be sure to check this regular as opposed to the last one where I fell way behind.0

Hi everyone! I have been ill, hence not posting. Going to bed, tomorrow if I feel better will read everything here then post ...0
-
Ok Ok Ok I might probablyy be kicked out of this group now!
Well I was ill, stomach flu or something then my aunt passed away. In the first few days I barely ate ... THEN I sabotaged myself by pigging out on breads and cinnamon rolls. YEA, I kept telling myself to stop BUT I just kept on eating. I never realized until now that I eat when I have emotional problems. Now 2 weeks has passed, I felt fine with the death I have accepted it. But my body feels like crap of course due to my binge or whatever you want to call it. So I need someone out there to give me a BIG Ol' swipt kick in the butt so I get back in gear. Motivation needed!!! I feel like sh$t to failing ... but I still have enough motivation to get back on the backwagon !!! Where are my Paleo Primal Ppl at?0 -
I just started paleo fully yesterday. Though I did eat a tiny bit of cheese both yesterday and today, oh well. I have subscribed to the idea that fat is good for you for a while, but it has just been recently that I have discovered all of the bad news about grains, wheat in particular, so I decided to give paleo a shot. I am immediately impressed with the quantity of food that I can fit into a day without grains.
My wife is still on the fence, she says she is going to try it, but doesn’t want to give up milk. I haven’t dug up any significantly bad information on milk especially since we buy organic grass-feed whole milk and I don’t want to push her into it. My 2yr old daughter also loves milk. So is anyone doing this with kids and converted a resistant spouse?0 -
Paleo and loving it. I've lost 8.6 lbs in a month. lost 6 1/4 inches. not starving. I miss the bread and cheese...but I'm feeling SO much better!!! tennis elbow gone. carpal tunnel gone. dry skin....going away. hair and nails super strong. i know it will take me about a year to get down to my goal weight...but i figure if i keep eating this way, i'll get used to it and keep it going after I get to my goal weight. A huge change from my carb-heavy diet...but its nice not having to worry about a starch for dinner. :-) GO TEAM PALEO!!!!0

I'm new around here, and found this via a Google search. Is there another paleo thread, or is this it?
Also has anyone tried to start a paleo support group in person? I am thinking of trying it but I'm not sure what kind of response I would have.0 -
Hi ALL-I'm a crossfitter who is getting back into paleo because i felt awesome while on it and think grains and dairy are stupid! So, just wanted to post and introduce myeslf!

I'm starting to eat Paleo again after about 6 months of "fallen off the wagon". I'm wondering if anyone knows good nutrient guidelines (for fibre, fat and protein intake) so I can program my goals accordingly. I really don't like seeing all that red, even though I know fat and protein intake for the Paleo diet is normally much higher than the regular "dieting" guidelines.0

Hello,
I'm just starting the paleo diet! Would be really happy to join as a group member or friend on this site for
Support if anyone is interested. I'm currently 75kg, hoping to loose about 8kg, recently had a baby.0 -
Hi all, I'm trying a 60/40 or 70/30 Paleo. It is extremely hard because:
1) I adore pasta, cream, and butter
2) Vegetables make me feel bloated and sick
3) I am getting really tired of eating bananas / fruit / nuts for every snack
The reason I'm doing it because this method of eating is closest to my personal, ethically-accepted way of eating which is to stay away from chemicals and fake food as much as possible. Also weight is not so much an issue as general "Mommy flab" and against my personal old-school beliefs, I'm willing to forego the grains. But I gotta tell you.... so far this sucks. And I hate to diet. I'm hoping all of this helps me get a more defined core and more importantly help me clear my acne prone skin.
My question right now is, what are some paleo-friendly snacks that do not require (too much) cooking and are NOT fruit or nuts???0 -
I faves are Avacodo, cherry tomatoes, carrots, brocolli0
-
I started the "Whole 30" on April 1. I'm on day six and in the throws of horrible sugar cravings, irritability and lethargy (or commonly known as "Carb Flu"). I've been eating more as the program suggests, but I feel weak and awful. I feel bad for my husband and child as I am definitely not my best self. I need some advice, love to get over this stage of the program. Anyone?0
-
Ah yeah it was about 4-6 days into it that I literally started to get sick. I had some old-fashioned shepherd's pie, and I immediately seemed to get over all the cold/flu symptoms. Then it happened again around day 10. I was so lethargic I thought I was going to faint, so I had a small serving of brown rice with my dinner. Again I felt like the life came back to me. Happened again today- a small bowl of homemade mashed potatoes with some stewed lamb fixed me right up. So I don't have an answer for how to get over this, since I chose not to do it. I personally think that if my body is crying out for something, it's for good reason. What I chose to do was stick with the more natural carbs than with the quick-fixes of convenience food or so-called white flours.
You could try maybe upping your intake of sweet potatoes? Also remember that Paleo allows you to sneak in rice once in a while, so maybe that could help you. And try a site called Paleo Hacks... lots of good information there.0 -
@Miss Kim: vegetables make me feel sick, so I don't eat them too much. But the avocados and cherry tomatoes idea is awesome... for breakfast i've been having a tomato/basil salad and then avocados for my mid-morning meal. Sometimes I have a hard boiled egg. Definitely helps to break up the monotony...0
-
I'm so happy with Paleo! I'm doing the whole30! I'm pretty sure if I change after thirty days it will just be for dairy...yogurt and cottage cheese. I just ate chicken smeared with ginger and lemon.... Kale and chard and yellow squash. Mmm mmmmmm0

Hubby and I just started Paleo a week ago. I'm not sure if I've got the balace right between the carbs (veg), fat, and protien. My crossfit trainer threw a bunch of numbers at me, but I admit that it was complete jibberish to me.
She said "Try to only get 9g of carbs for every 7g of protein. 15g of protein in a good amount for a snack, but you should only have 18-20ish grams of carbs. Fats should be 1.5-2 g per every 7 grams of protein."
While she was trying to help me, it didn't help because I have NO idea what these measurements look like. Any help? What should I be eating? What should I set my goal amounts to for the end of the day? Right now they're set to 180g of cabs, 158g protein, and 50g of fat.
Feel free to look at my food journal and offer suggestions.
Any help is appreciated!!0 -
A friend of mine has a paleo recipe blog, http://fedandfit.com/ in case you're looking for some recipe ideas!
I'm not paleo myself but some of her recipes look pretty tasty.0 -

Awesome! Thanks. I'm going to make one of her recipes tomorrow!0 -
All that measuring sounds tiresome and awful. Honestly I think that kind of micro-management of food/diet/portions only contributes to eating problems because people develop a fear of food (or a poor relationship with food, if you will). What I'm trying to say is I wouldn't go crazy trying to figure out all these formulas... it's food... enjoy it! If you are eating sensible amounts of REAL food as opposed to processed food, then you should be ok without having to worry about whether you are consuming the correct ratios. That's just my opinion.
Edited to add: Jalyner I was trying to reply to your post about what the trainer told you with all the different ratios of food you're supposed to be eating. I should have used the "Quote" button instead of "reply".0 -
I am pretty excited to find this thread. Started using MFP today. My family has been following a paleo template for about 9 months. Our first focus is on non-processed food, not to say it doesn't slip in sometimes. We do still eat dairy occasionally and we use rice about once a week, but neither food bothers my husband, I or our girls. Wheat products do make all us bloated and gassy so that is limited as much as possible. It has definitely been harder to get the kids moved towards a paleo diet even 80% of the time due to school. But their summer program will require us to pack their snacks and lunches, so I think we will get them even closer to family health goals.0

Hey everyone! I was recently (monday) forced onto the Paleo lifestyle. I found out through genetic testing that I have a mutation on a gene and doctors want me to try paleo for awhile to see if this makes any difference in the symptoms I experience and hopefully avoid many extreme problems in the future. I used to track with MFP but slacked off. Do you all track what you eat on Paleo? I find it hard because lettuce here and a handful or carrots or kale is difficult for me to track. Do you not necessarily watch portions because it is all healthy. I have also noticed how full I am. I am hoping this does not go away haha..does it??
I look forward to talking to all of you!0 -
Hey Paleo peeps!
I'm keto primal and I've been here since last August. I might not be "Paleo" but there are a lot of similarities. I choose to still have full fat dairy because it causes me no problems, but I do not think it's necessarily healthy (unless unpasteurized from grass-fed animals..).
I just want to throw out a reminder: MFP macro defaults are not ideal for anyone. The protein is usually ok for most people (depends) but the carb macro is too high and the fat macro TOO LOW. While I don't think everyone needs to eat like me (I have metabolic issues that need healing so I'm extremely ketogenic) fat should be at least 50% of calories and ideally more. So 50 grams of fat is too little. We've been told that fat is bad, but unless we are talking refined oils such as canola and soy, we have been LIED to.0
