Intro: New to MyFitnessPal

I'm desperately wanting to lose weight. It is definitely affecting my health & need some support. My downfall is craving sweets & salty. I've lost my sense of smell & taste except for sweet & salty. I've put on almost 100 lbs since I quit smoking about 13 years ago. I'm afraid I've substituted the craving for nibbling. Hoping I can figure out how to post what I eat. I'm retired, living in Western North Carolina & enjoy quilting & machine embroidery.

Hi everyone, I just started Monday and am really tired of doing the rollercoaster ride and hurting from the pain of being overweight and being borderline diebetic. I would love some friends for motivation and ideas as I have alot of weight to lose. One of the hardest parts for me was just getting started, but I'm here and am ready for a lifetime change.

I am the same way. I weighed 250 pounds and just couldn't seem to keep on a diet. I learned it takes 2 things...

    1. Discipline
    2. Patience.

Someone once told me "You didn't get fat overnight so you aren't going to get skinny overnight either."

I have lost 20 pounds in the past 2 months by doing the following....

For breakfast I eat a bowl of oatmeal (1/2 cup of oats and 1 cup of hot water)
For lunch I eat a Weight Watchers "Smart Ones" microwave dinner
For dinner, I eat whatever my family has but I measure out everything in 1/2 cup intervals and keep my calorie count to 1,400 per day. I have stopped drinking soda pop and I have quit eating snacks altogether.

I wish I could tell you there was a way that you could eat all the sweet and salty snacks you want and still lose weight, but there just simply is not. You have to find the will power to do this and the discipline to stick with it..

Eating right is not how a diet starts, that is how it ends. The start of a good diet is getting right in your mind.

    Good Luck to you...
