How much honey in plain greek yougurt?

Hi guys! I love greek yogurt but have always gotten the ones with flavors already added. Trying to cut down on carbs and sugars and increase my protein levels while doing Insanity. The shoprite brand of plain greek yogurt has 18 grams of protein per 6 ounce cup! Yoplait greek 100's only have 10 grams. Plus if I could get used to the plain, it doesn't have the sucrolose and other "bad" ingredients that the non-fat flavors have.
So I have searched and found TONS of brilliant ideas for what to add to plain greek yogurt.
I would like to try honey and nuts. I am trying to plan out my food diary for the day. How much honey do you add to 6 ounces of the yogurt? One tablespoon adds on a lot of sugar. Do most people do 1/2 tablespoon?

Well, any store bought plain Greek yogurt are great, but I made my own yogurt at home, that's need to take a little time. And really save me a lot of money, :-) I make my regular plain yogurt first, then strain it about 4 hours in the refrigerator. The yogurt taste way better than store bought.
I took some to my office the other day and share with my friends in the office. And one of them said it's not taste like cornstarch, Lol. Yes that's true, all I had in there was milk and yogurt starter. I didn't add anything to thick the yogurt, that's why it's taste better.

The total one batch time for me is about 16 minutes microwave cook the milk (about 8 cups), about 20-30 minutes to cool down the milk to the request temperature (I put the container into the cold water to short waiting time), then mix in the yogurt starter (left from the last batch), then pour the mixed milk into the jars, and move into a cooler with a bottle of warm water. For total about 8 hours (still depends your temperature or yogurt starter) my yogurt is ready.
Then I use Yogurt Cheese Maker (http://www.easy-homemade-yogurt.com/Yogurt-Cheese-Maker.html) straining up to three cups plain yogurt in one time, for about 4 hours. This step should be in the refrigerator. Then you move the straining yogurt into a bow stir it well, you can enjoy it now or keep it into a dried, cleaned container into refrigerator.
By adding the sweetener, honey is the best, but I also like brow sugar. If you have no idea how much are you going to add in, I will suggest get about 1/2 or 2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt in a bowl, the add 1 tablespoon honey mix well and taste it to see you need to add more or not. Mix with fruit or nuts, and enjoy it.
By the way, I have been tried whole milk, 1%, and 2% milk, they got almost the same results from each batch.

Just add honey until it's sweet enough. Personally, I don't like honey, so I use a high quality fruit preserve of some sort. Otherwise, just using fresh fruit is usually enough to kill enough of the tartness. Then I add some nut/seed mixture and/or dried fruit for more texture.0

I put way too much in but I love it. Probably 1-2 tablespoons in a cup of yogurt0

I buy the big 32oz tubs of plain greek yogurt at a time (usually Fage or Trader Joe's brand) and I love it. I usually just add chopped fruit (strawberries, kiwis, or mangoes are my favorite!) and let it sit for a while in the fridge so the fruit juices can really seep out and sweeten it. When I started adding just honey, I started at a full tablespoon per 8oz and then dropped it down to 1/2. It depends on what else I eat that day, I guess. If I have the room to add a full TBSP, I'm going to add it. Because honey is delicious. Though if I do honey AND fruit, I'll stick to 1/2.0

A couple of weeks ago I decided to give up sweetened and flavored yogurt. By now it doesn't taste half bad. Not that you have to give up sweetening it or anything. I'd start with 1 tsp of honey, then add more if it wasn't sweet enough. But one's taste buds can adjust to the unsweetened product.0

3 cups of oats
6 Tbsp of Honey
4 oz of dried fruit
1 cup of nuts
( I prefer to use dried cranberries and sliced almonds)
This recipe will make about 44 servings (2 Tbsp per serving, which is plenty to add to 6 oz of yogurt).
In 2 Tbsp, it is 50 calories, 9 carbs, 1 fat, 1 fiber and 1 protein.
So if you buy the 100 calorie fat free greek yogurt and then add 2 Tbsp of this granola, you are only adding 50 calories and 1 gram of fat.0 -

I have reading the portion sizes and recommended portions because they are made by the manufacturers who just want to sell you more.
I halve the portions that they suggest and only have more if I need it - normally not needed.
Honey is great but it is really sweet - stop before you lose the taste of the yoghurt.0
