Trying to add cooked oats to my breakfast. What do you usually use to sweeten it with?

Raisins. That's usually enough for me.

Banana. I cook it with the oatmeal and it gets super mushy. Some people hate the texture (almost gooey), but I really enjoy it. Eating it right now, actually! :)

Edit: come to think of it, I'll generally use whatever fruit I happen to have (except citrus)- apples (w/ cinnamon), strawberries, blueberries, etc. Raisins & other dried fruits are good too, especially raisins & cinnamon.

I made some on Saturday...I am a sweet tooth so I used 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and then added strawberries and blueberries, it was perfect for me.

If you happen to have a chocolate craving, try this: Cook oats & banana by whatever method you choose. After oatmeal is cooked, add in a scoop of your favorite chocolate protein powder and maybe a teaspoon of dark cocoa powder. Sooo yummy.

I usually do cinnamon sugar and a half a pack of Stevia in the Raw if I want it a little more sweeter than usual.

Depends totally on my mood. Sometimes it's a packet of splenda, sometimes it's brown sugar, sometimes it sugar free maple syrup and sometimes it's honey. I may try Avage next, I have a bottle that I'm currently using for one and only one recipe and I need to find other uses...

Generally I'm eating Steel Cut oats...

Forgot I generally also add some fruit, especially if I'm making it in the crockpot overnight, then I add in some dried fruit when I throw it all in the crockpot.

    Stevia and cinnamon
  • Stevia plus dried fruit & nuts: raisins, dates (be careful, lots of calories in dates), cranberries, apricots, almonds, pecans, walnuts.

    Yum!

I have recently fallen in love with a not as popular natural sweetener: Coconut Palm Sugar. It's so tastey and even has nutritional values you can add to your diet by throwing some onto your oats. Google it and check it out for yourself :)

I do a teaspoon of brown sugar, cranberries, and cinnamon.

I also do raisins, walnuts and a splash of cream

I recently bought some apple butter and am going to try that next.

When the summer comes, it will be berries, cherries, etc.

You also could try some honey.

I usually buy the flavored oats but lately I've been using agave, and before that golden syrup (I used honey for a bit but I find the honey was over powering and too strong. Wanted my oats sweeter and not honey flavored).
